Apprently the Commanding General in Afhganistan
...has stated that we cannot win a war of attrition (which was the strategy) so he wants to change from offensively seeking out the enemy to protecting the towns/villages.
No shit...you can't win a war of attrition when the enemy has safe haven to recoup...regroup...recruit...train and resupply. You also cannot win a defensive war by protecting towns/villages. Shades of Vietnam all over again. Our political leaders apparently are not going to learn that when we engage our troops it should be full over whelming offensive engagement or no engagement in the first place. If this is the way it is to be...then get the fuck out now...and stop wasting monies and lives for a no win situation...and let the chips fall where they may.
