For all dog owner on gfy - VERY IMPORTENT
I just found this website after I saw some discussion about dog food on here...
this is the site: http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com I couldn't believe I bought my dog this shit http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_f...t=1396&cat=all and paid top fucking dollars...$26 for 8 pounds..... I'm buying this new food today http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_f...t=2253&cat=all and I'll be paying the same price! and this food was recommended by my vet....if you are feeding your dog crap make sure to switch to something better using the site above, it will probably not cost you more $. |

feed your dog this:
http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/produc...es/999325.aspx people need to realize animals like cats/dogs in the wild dont eat grains/rice/etc.. they eat meat.. my gfs cats eat natures variety raw food, they are like 5yrs now, not one single vet trip.. shinny coat, poop doesnt stick at all, nicely formed and on time.. i believe in mimicing what theyd eat in the wild.. not like someone is baking cookies and boiling rice for these wild animals.. also when was the last time u saw an overweight lion or tiger.. its hard for these animals to get fat unless they eating all these carbs they are not supposed to be eating.. PS one of my girls' cats was fat, she put him on the raw food, he lost all his fat in a few weeks and is more energetic

I found that site a couple of years back when my shih tzu went off her food. She's a pain in the butt eater and wants what I call junk food dog food.. ones full of corn, etc.
I have fed premium foods for many many years and have found that with the better quality foods the pet eats less of it to get the nutrition they need because not as much of it is fillers. They don't go through a bag of the good stuff as quickly as they do the bad stuff. To me in the long run, it probably evens out the cost. Right now I'm still trying to get her to settle into a 5 or 6 star food (according to that site). I'm working with the Fromm Chicken A La Veg and the Artemis Fresh Mix. Ordered small bags from Petfooddirect to start with.

natures variety also has the same stuff for cats.. my girl just puts em in the fridge to defrost and feeds em to the cats.. they love it.. comes in different meats like venison, beef, chicken..etc it only costs her about 50$ a month for 2 cats... dry food is cheaper yeah, but if a cat wouldnt eat grains/sugar in the wild, why should you feed him that indoors.. i tend to side with nature in all matters concerning the body.. i mean ive seen some pet food thats basically all carbs.. come on

good man, just try to feed them as much meat as possible and cut out the bread.. dogs in the wild dont eat bread.. bread is just flour and its not good for humans no pets

dude theres many RAW foods that come nicely packaged, natures variety makes great ones..u dont gotta feed raw pigs.. heres some
http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/produc...es/999325.aspx http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/produc...ts/131069.aspx btw that site is amazing for pets.. has tons of products, reviews, etc and these foods are like 95% protein, the other 5% is some veggies,etc.. Just read this and tell me you dont think this is better for your dog? its what he/she would eat in the wild.. ================================================== ================= Nature's Variety Raw Food Diets are made from freshly ground USDA meat, organ, and bone sources. Each diet is 95% meat, organs, and bones with a portion of these products from certified organic sources. Together, these quality meats, organs, and bones are rich in Vitamins A, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, C, D, E, K, Biotin; Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, protein, fats, zinc, manganese, selenium, iron, calcium, phosphorus, sulfur, copper, and the essential amino acids. 5% of each Natures Variety Raw and Freeze Dried Diets contain human edible and certified organic sprouts, fruits, vegetables, and cold processed Norwegian Virgin Salmon Oil. All contain an organic source of over 50 trace mineral colloidal silicates called montmorillonite. Many pet owners have reported that the benefits of these colloidal silicate minerals include better coats, weight gain, increase in milk production, better conception, and overall better health. Available in 8 ounce patties and 2 lb. chubs, ideal for larger dogs or multiple animals, or 1 ounce medallions, which are good for smaller dogs and cats.

dont discount me without trying first. ive convinced friends to switch diets for their cats/dogs and they come back and thank me.. their animal becomes more active, loses fat.. gets better coat.. the point is im not trying to act like a doctor here, just saying theres foods that mimic what they would eat in the wild, their bodies arent made to digest dry food thats like 80% carbs... anyway

its frozen when it comes, what you do is you bring out say food for 2 days, then put it in the fridge, it will defrost, then you can just feed it to your dog... thats what the people i know use it do anyway..
basically they bring out patties for 2 days, put in zip lock, put in fridge, then feed dog, then on second day, bring out another for day 3, etc.. basically it takes one day to thaw in the fridge... and your dog/cat will love it...

One stint she went 10 days and had lost over 2 lbs (10% of her body weight) and was throwing up bile because of an empty stomach. Vet finally told me to add a canned food topper to the food. With some food that works.. with others she would literally eat the canned food off and around of the dry and leave the dry on the floor. This all started about 3 years ago when the Wellness she had been on since a puppy changed their formula. She wouldn't touch it.. in fact rubbed on it. Finally got her eating a food called Flint River Ranch.. but it's Internet distributor only...and not that great compared to other foods. A few months back she went off her food because she was getting scraps from my toddler grandbaby's high chair droppings. I put a stop to that when I noticed she wasn't eating her own food nightly. Decided at that time to get her back on something decent. With a topper food like Wellness 95% Beef or Chicken mixed in really well she ate most all of what I gave her tonight that was the Artemis Fresh Mix food. Maybe this one's a keeper.

The Wellness 95% that I'm talking about at the end of my post is a canned food. I don't like feeding just canned. I use a bit of it mixed well into dry food to get her to eat the dry.

When she was eating the old Wellness formula I'd just leave the kibble in her dish and usually in the evening between 6 and 8 she'd decide it was dinner time and eat. She as healthy as can be and no dental problems.. she's just stubborn, like me.

Origen is a very very good product. I've tried about all the no-grain foods with my dog.. no go. Closest I can get is one that uses barley, brown rice, and/or oatmeal instead of corn, etc.

i had a dog for 21 years till he had to be put down because he had developed cancer in a few places in his body.
we cooked for him every night, mostly leftovers from lunch and dinner, heated it up with some bread and fed him.....so if he lived for 21 years i'm guessing his diet was great. its a good thing he never liked the food in a bag

I cook the food for my dog + add doggy vitamines and other necessary shit to it. Cheaper and definately better for him than some dried out chemical shit. (not sure if better, but he's 9 years old and healthy..my aunts dog ate the same shit I feed my dog and her dog lived to 17 years old and healthy).

Feed your dog raw meat 2 or 3 days per week. If your dog is 8 years old he/she will begin to have the energy of a puppy. Ok now you know the truth so lets see if you give a fuck.
Of course the dog food advertised on TV is PURE SHIT. What do you see on TV that is not pure shit? |

We used to be all about buy the top of the line foods etc for out dogs. 40-50 bucks for 20 pound bags... Then we found a food from Cargill Pet food. called premium pro. The dogs love it. They have been on it over a year and a half now and are healthier than they have ever been. Since we have Danes, we have to watch the protein levels of food. No higher than 22% or you risk some nasty problems. The best part of this food... It's 17 bucks for 50 pound bags. We get it at the local feed store. The local cops use the same brand, but a different formula for all their dogs (higher protein levels) They buy 2-3 Pallets at a time.... I'm just saying, if the foods good enough for pro trained police dogs, it's good enough for my dogs.
Anyone else find it funny that in the original links for the dog food, the work cat is in it.....

I agree, but there are dog food brands on the market that supposedly have all the best ingredients but the dogs won't even touch them. In this case it's good quality and apparently good taste.

Science Diet is a scam. Their feline urinary tract health formula is pretty much exactly the same as purina one's feline urinary tract health formula and over twice the price. Neither are premium pet foods.

Mine used to get a combination of Pedigree canned and Pedigree kibble, and then went to only Pedigree kibble for a long time. After a few years it started giving them the shits, so we switched them to Iams weight control kibble, and they've been fine ever since.
I don't believe there is such a thing as "what dogs would eat in the wild" because domesticated dogs do not live in the wild. The ones that do actually "live in the wild" generally eat garbage in alleyways. |

I thought about using that one because they have it at TSC and it seems decent, but I also agree with whoever it was that said they should be fed natural shit, not all the filler garbage. I never really put too much thought into it, but now I am going to change his food. LOL!.
