I know a method that works, but it's way more hassle than it's worth. The bit of video uploading I do now is pretty passive and straightlaced.

If it weren't for the fact that some sponsors had backed him up as a quality affiliate I would have brushed it off. I'm still interested as I've seen success with Youtube myself. I'm curious how the artificial inflation is working these days, or if it is even.

You are absolutely right. I don't question what he has been able to do in the past, or what continues to come in from existing clips. Selling 'spots' will work. The part I have a problem buying in to is him wanting to charge to show you how to do it.

In my experience, the clear indicator that a method is played out and no longer viable is when the eBooks and 'how to' guides start showing up. All the eBook shit out there that people peddle for anywhere from $4.95 to $495 is selling a dream based on reality that is years out of date.

Edit - and to be clear, I am in no way calling him a scammer or anything of that nature. It is a valid business model to do what he is doing. I am just giving him a little ribbing and taking the piss out of him.

Recent stats don't matter. If the videos have been around for 2 years, those same videos from 2007 are still driving the same amount of traffic as they did in '07, perhaps a bit less - but assuming that he's been consistently uploading more videos since '07 he doesn't need to show new stats... just my 2 cents.

you tube has sick traffic still, but the methods like posting a video with a website name on it does not work as well as even a year ago. Many people spamming a video teaser with a water mark hoping people will go visit that website to see more content. Except people would use a sponsors content and send a visitor to a website that had something totally different on it. youtube is not new anymore...and people are hip to this type of false advertising.

makes no sense to "sell" a method. You could sell it to one person, and he can tell 10 people, who tells 10 people etc... Why create competition with yourself to make a couple bucks selling your trade secrets if you are still making money from it.

If the videos have been around for 2 years, those same videos from 2007 are still driving the same amount of traffic as they did in '07, perhaps a bit less - but assuming that he's been consistently uploading more videos since '07 he doesn't need to show new stats... just my 2 cents. Many people spamming a video teaser with a water mark hoping people will go visit that website to see more content. Except people would use a sponsors content and send a visitor to a website that had something totally different on it. youtube is not new anymore...and people are hip to this type of false advertising.
