Just watched the McViegh documentary

...didn't learn much that I didn't already know...but was interesting to hear him tell his story in his own voice.

I saw parts of it... NBC is full of it when they claim he's never spoken to the press, and some of this audio/video contradicts what he told Ed Bradley before.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=smLYgadzAHI

Plus the whole re-enforcing the idea that he acted alone is getting real annoying.

:D

There's the problem then, you only saw parts of it. I watched it in it's entirety this past week and it did cover in detail who was involved with him, and how. Also covered was the incident where he was interviewed by that female reporter after he had tried to go visit the branch Davidian compound in Wako but was turned away at a roadblock.

The part that either wasn't mentioned or I simply missed it was how he came to choose that particular government building for his target. I'm sure there are hundreds of them strewn all across the US, why this particular one?

That and the amount of explosives he had could do the damage it did. Even ranking generals in the US army say there is no way he did the damage to the building with just one truck bomb.

Target selection

Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building as it appeared before its destruction
McVeigh initially intended only to destroy a federal building, but he later decided that his message would be better received if many people were killed in the bombing.[25] McVeigh's criterion for potential attack sites was that the target should house at least two of three federal law-enforcement agencies: the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), or the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). He regarded the presence of additional law-enforcement agencies, such as the Secret Service or the U.S. Marshals Service, as a bonus.[26]
McVeigh, a resident of Kingman, Arizona, considered targets in Missouri, Arizona, Texas, and Arkansas.[26] McVeigh stated in his authorized biography that he wanted to minimize nongovernmental casualties, so he ruled out a 40-story government building in Little Rock, Arkansas, because of the presence of a florist's shop on the ground floor.[27] In December 1994, McVeigh and Fortier visited Oklahoma City to inspect their target: the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building.[22] The nine-story building, built in 1977, was named for a federal judge and housed fourteen federal agencies including the DEA, ATF, Social Security Administration, and recruiting offices for the Army and Marine Corps.[28] The Murrah building was chosen for its glass front—which was expected to shatter under the impact of the blast—and its adjacent large, open parking lot across the street, which might absorb and dissipate some of the force, and protect the occupants of nearby non-federal buildings.[27] In addition, McVeigh believed that the open space around the building would provide better photo opportunities for propaganda purposes.[27] The attack was planned to take place on April 19, 1995, to coincide with the anniversary of the Waco Siege and the 220th anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord.[29]

Yeah I did only watch part, and most of the advertising/PR part of the show was pure bullshit. If they covered the other suspects and especially that #2 John Doe then I guess it's cool.

To contrast the media from back then and today is incredible - there's a ton of mainstream news stuff about doubts on the explosive/s and so on which is never something you'd see in today's coverage of the World Trade Center attacks for example.

According to FEMA itself, it would have taken minimum 12,000 pounds of ANFO to do what the government says 2000 did.

Whether it was illegally stored explosives (which is doubtful since the destruction would have been much more ancillary and random) or actually planted bombs, it's obvious there's more to the OK City bombing than the media told us, or the government is willing to admit.

Again.

Guess it depends on your source then, since I've seen anywhere from 3000 to 4800.

Maybe they're separating the actual fertilizer content from the methane and oil-fuel, etc...

Point being, it wasn't big enough to do what they claim it did, especially the deeper-core collapse and damage...

:D

Never really researched it, didn't seem like one truck bomb could do all that damage though. I always question the offical story of anything, cause its almost always false.

Ever hear of the Beirut barracks bombing by a truck bomb or the Khobar Towers bombing by a truck bomb. The Oklahoma bomb was the equivalent of 5,000 lbs of TNT. The Beirut bomb and the Khobar Towers bomb were equivalent to more than twice that amount of TNT but the buildings were also bigger and with different dynamics.

The blast was heard and felt up to 55 miles (89 km) away.[63] Seismometers at Science Museum Oklahoma in Oklahoma City, 4.3 miles (6.9 km) away, and in Norman, Oklahoma, 16.1 miles (25.9 km) away, recorded the blast as measuring approximately 3.0 on the Richter scale.

Yeah well another weird thing about OK city was the fact there was a crater at all, the lack of post-blast noxious fumes as well as the very slight amount of potassium nitrate in the residue collected after the event...

Ok found it. It was a 2.5 ton truck. The explosion was that of a 4 ton bomb. However to make a 4 ton bomb the way McVeigh did you would need 14 tons of fertilizer.

Anyone have links debunking this Generals claim I would like to read them.
