It's All Bush's Fault!

Here's an opinion piece by Chuck Green who writes "Greener Pastures" for the Denver Post Aurora Sentinel...one of the more liberal papers in the country. Additionally, Mr. Green is a life long Democrat...so this is rather a stunning piece...

Obama is victim of Bush's failed promises
Greener Pastures Column -- 2/7/10

http://www.aurorasentinel.com/articl...2027520167.txt

Barack Obama is setting a record-setting number of records during his first year in office.
Largest budget ever. Largest deficit ever. Largest number of broken promises ever. Most self-serving speeches ever. Largest number of agenda-setting failures ever. Fastest dive in popularity ever.

Wow! Talk about change.

Just one year ago, fresh from his inauguration celebrations, President Obama was flying high. After one of the nation's most inspiring political campaigns, the election of America's first black president had captured the hopes and dreams of millions. To his devout followers, it was inconceivable that a year later his administration would be gripped in self-imposed crisis.

Of course, they don't see it as self-imposed. It's all George Bush's fault.

George Bush, who doesn't have a vote in congress and who no longer occupies the White House, is to blame for it all.

He broke Obama's promise to put all bills on the White House web site for five days before signing them.

He broke Obama's promise to have the congressional health care negotiations broadcast live on C-SPAN.

He broke Obama's promise to end earmarks.

He broke Obama's promise to keep unemployment from rising above 8 percent.

He broke Obama's promise to close the detention center at Guantanamo in the first year.

He broke Obama's promise to make peace with direct, no precondition talks with America's most hate-filled enemies during his first year in office, ushering in a new era of global cooperation.

He broke Obama's promise to end the hiring of former lobbyists into high White House jobs.

He broke Obama's promise to end no-compete contracts with the government.

He broke Obama's promise to disclose the names of all attendees at closed White House meetings.

He broke Obama's promise for a new era of bipartisan cooperation in all matters.

He broke Obama's promise to have chosen a home church to attend Sunday services with his family by Easter of last year.

Yes, it's all George Bush's fault. President Obama is nothing more than a puppet in the never-ending failed Bush administration.

If only George Bush wasn't still in charge, all of President Obama's problems would be solved. His promises would have been kept, the economy would be back on track, Iran would have stopped its work on developing a nuclear bomb and would be negotiating a peace treaty with Israel. North Korea would have ended its tyrannical regime, and integrity would have been restored to the federal government.

Oh, and did I mention what it would be like if the Democrats, under the leadership of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, didn't have the heavy yoke of George Bush around their necks? There would be no ear marks, no closed-door drafting of bills, no increase in deficit spending, no special-interest influence (unions), no vote buying (Nebraska, Louisiana).

If only George Bush wasn't still in charge, we'd have real change by now.

All the broken promises, all the failed legislation and delay (health care reform, immigration reform) is not President Obama's fault or the fault of the Democrat-controlled Congress. It's all George Bush's fault.

Take for example the decision of Eric Holder, the president's attorney general, to hold terrorists' trials in New York City. Or his decision to try the Christmas Day underpants bomber as a civilian.

Two disastrous decisions.

Certainly those were bad judgments based on poor advice from George Bush.

Need more proof?

You might recall that when Scott Brown won the election to the U.S. Senate from Massachusetts , capturing "the Ted Kennedy seat", President Obama said that Brown's victory was the result of the same voter anger that propelled Obama into office in 2008. People were still angry about George Bush and the policies of the past 10 years. And they wanted change.

Yes, according to the president, the voter rebellion in Massachusetts was George Bush's fault.

Therefore, in retaliation, they elected a Republican to the Ted Kennedy seat, ending a half-century of domination by Democrats. It is all George Bush's fault.

Will the failed administration of George Bush ever end, and the time for hope and change ever arrive?

Will President Obama ever accept responsibility for something... - anything?

(Chuck Green is a veteran Colorado journalist and former editor-in-chief of The Denver Post.)"

Read it and weep!

Sally.

Thank you, Vendzilla and nicely put! You must remember though that Ottopottomouse is obviously infected with a severe if not terminal case of Obama Derangement Syndrome and lives in a socialist nation which still clings to a monarchy, albeit shattered and dangerously inbred. Further many in the UK are very angry at the USA for having saved its ass, not once but TWICE in World Wars, the first of which was, in point of fact, a war between cousins; grandsons of Victoria, which tells you just about as much as you need to know about the monarchy.

Thank you for your kind reply!

Good choice because if you haven't read it, you can't reply or comment intelligently on the OP. Not that you would reply intelligently anyway but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

Maybe you're both too intelligent to realise I was referring to every time someone copies and pastes something long without bothering to give their own short summarised opinion a load of the repliers comment on not being bothered to read it and a load more call the OP something rude.

It's the internet - not everything is real and some of us can turn the computer off and forget about it.

It's not hard to break a promises that has to go through the house and the senate to be approved.... Why don't you redo that list to show what he "attempted" to do but was blocked, yelled at an ran through he mud for trying?

But you're correct...we should just totally ignore the past, like it didn't happen, it was a perfect world, heaven on earth and the day Obama took over it all changed, instantly it was all bad, instantly he did it all. Yeah, that's what you guys sound like, crazy!

In addition...if one takes a historical perspective...generally speaking...policies made during any administration...usually take up to a decade or more...for the full ramification of said policies to become apparent...thus no current President can be blamed for or take credit for every aspect of the state of the Union...though they are and tough they do.

The strawman arguments Doc introduces are truly priceless. It's funny though that the Liberals use Bush as an excuse for their fuckups.

No.... it's still a fact, if Obama tries to push it through and they block it and you blame Obama... come on, only an idiot would actually blame Obama then and that's what's going on.

If you want to blame the Dem controlled Senate for blocking most of the shit, then say that - because it's true.

I think this president made more promises than any other, and broke damn near all of them

But as soon as I found out he was from the Chicago political machine, I knew that would happen

Sorry, I can't give the President a pass on these promises. I can't give liberals a pass on it either. Obama, was supposed to be the white knight, the Messiah, the man un tainted by politics. A black man that will be fair and non partisan about race and class. He is by far the biggest racist in public office and will destroy this country with endless debt.
The sickest part of all of it is that liberals knew about his agenda and voted for him anyways. We all knew he was a socialist, racist, puppet of the DNC, labor unions and public employee unions.

Many of the ideas in the health care bill were proposed by Republicans and became a part of the bill...by some counts a couple of hundred...but they claim they were left out because they did not vote for the bill...as they did not want a health care bill...and certainly not one put through by the Democrats.

You guys seem confused, let me clear the air.

PolitiFact has compiled more than 500 promises that Barack Obama made during the campaign and is tracking their progress on our Obameter.

20 Promises Broken... 120 kept, 38 compomise, 81 stalled, 243 in the works.

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/

He has kept more Promises than any other President in History.

Even eagan wanted a healthcare plan, but couldn't figure out how to make it work, Obama couldn't either, but passed it anyways

It's impossible to create a perfect system from the start but a damn good way to start is to get your foot in the door. Or we could take the same approach and do nothing which was failing all around us.

a good start would be less than 2300 pages that no one could or did read

Even if you took 25% of them out, he still kept more than any other President. End of the day, he has been working to keep his word, far more than any other President, even if you don't like them - he still has done it.

In addition...it has not even been fully implemented and won't be for several years...and President Obama will not be in office...when the full ramifications of the Health Care Bill becomes apparent. Also parts of it are currently being challenged in the courts...as well as changes to the bill will probably be made by Congress over the coming years...thus it will be years before we know if it is a good thing or a bad thing.

No possible way to make you happy... as if the healthcare bill would be a few hundred pages long, as if medicare is a few hundred pages long.

If he didn't pass the bill, you would be saying it's another broken promise. If it was too short, you would say it had to many open ends. Now that it's too long, nobody can read it.

He gives a "fuck"...about the direction of the country...and Doc is a citizen of the country...and I doubt that he considers himself to be a "slave"...nor do I. Even if I were to consider myself as being a "slave"...my response would be thank you for being a good "massa...massa".

how many pages were used for the bill of rights?

when I see my parents medicare bill go up due to the healthcare bill going into effect a couple years from now, I have a problem

when I see him give a speech and make fun of the GOP, I have a problem, that's making fun of half the people of the US

When I see the president of Mexico in front of congress speaking out against the people of Arizona, I got a problem

when I see more troops being deployed to a foreign war, I got a problem

when I see the unemployment rate at 9.5% nationally and 14% locally, I got a problem

when I see the president of the US bowing to a foreign power, I got a problem

when I see concerned peaceful people protesting the president being called racist when there is no proof from organizations like the NAACP, I got a problem

when I hear from the president of the United State after hearing about a white cop arresting a black man that he acted stupidly, then offering them both a beer at the white house, I got a problem

and when people tell me those aren't a problem, I got a problem with that

One second, I am just remembering all the calls on this board and the DNC about how great this guy will be. He never went up on the podium and said, "Lets slow down, I am not a Messiah and I am not the greatest hope for this country." He did say he is not a racist but clearly he gave a pass to two racists and never condemned Jeremiah Wright. No he accepted all the hype and used it to get elected. Fuck, his own political machine created or encouraged all of it. No pass

These are the weakest excuses ever given on GFY.

I wasn't aware our law makers had to make short bills and I have no idea why you now think it's a problem.

Your parents medical bills did not go up because of the healthcare bill, it's impossible to have happened. The GOP thing was needed and funny. The Mexico crap is pointless.

You had a problem with Bush sending troops to Afgan? I had a problem with us going to war with Afgan because Afgan didn't do anything, which is why Obama changed the policy. I don't have a problem going after people that attacked my Country anyone that does should leave the Country.

Other presidents have bowed to foreign powers...Is it bad that they shook our Presidents hand, which is also a sign of respect to how our people greet others?

I don't care about what went down the cop and black man or a beer offer to make up for his stupid words. My god, if you hung on every stupid thing a president did or said, man you would be hating every president like mad and that's is just pathetic and sad.

Unemployment doesn't turn around after an extreme drop in two years... It's the "last" thing to turn around. You should be proud that he got it to stop dropping like a rock in water rather than hating that he hasn't also pulled a miracle out of his ass.

If this is the reasons you dislike Obama, you should be screaming hate for Bush and his Policies and what they did to our Country. I agree, not everything Obama has done is what I would have done - but holy shit, "pretending" he should have fixed it all by now is... crazy, just pure crazy and the hate, my god... it's the most illogical reasons I've ever heard to hate a President over.

Only promises on that site are campaign promises. None of the promises that have gone through, have actually effected you or your family, at all - in a bad way. You can stop pretending that they have.

He hasn't done anything to actually ruin the Country, not anything at least that you could point out that actually did hurt or ruin the Country.

P.S. I never saw him say he was the Messiah or ever act like one at that. The only people that think that are right wing dig bats that get stuck on a word they heard over the news.
