Network Solutions

I have a domain that expired on Jul 30. I called and they said they will have an exec call me later today. I was told on the phone it expired Jul 30 and that on August 5th they deactivated it.

Registrant:
Premium Holding Account
ATTN *DOMAIN*
care of Network Solutions
PO Box 459
Drums, PA. US 18222

Domain Name: *DOMAIN*
Administrative Contact, Technical Contact:
O'Donnell, Mike
ATTN *DOMAIN*
care of Network Solutions
PO Box 459
Drums, PA 18222 US

Record expires on 30-Jul-2011.
Record created on 24-Aug-2009.

Domain servers in listed order:
NS1.PENDINGRENEWALDELETION.COM 205.178.190.51
NS2.*MINE*.COM
NS1.*MINE*.COM
NS59.WORLDNIC.COM 205.178.190.30
NS60.WORLDNIC.COM 206.188.198.30
NS2.PENDINGRENEWALDELETION.COM 206.188.198.51

It looks like they renewed it for another year too. Don't I have like 90 days to renew it without any fees? They straight swiped this domain from me...

Not necessarily. The times that a lot of registrars give you are in some cases longer than the actual requirements as laid out by ICANN.

for no fees? no... with NS I believe you get 30 days to renew and then they either auction it off or keep it for themselves. You should still be able to get it back by paying their redemption fee of 100 dollars or whatever though.

Usually they renew an expired domain when a backorder partner, like snapnames, has backorders for that name.

The on-hold period is usually 40 days after expiry, this is the time you can actually renew the domain and get it back.

Most registrars send you more then 1 email reminder that the domain name is about to expire.

Its a .com. I'm fucked. I just read their terms. They can take it from you the day after it expired. Fucking crooks.

And it looks like I'm 1 day late. It was transferred to them on the 5th.

I guess NetSol plays by its own rules. Not surprising with their history.

http://www.networksolutions.com/supp...letion-policy/

"If a customer does not renew the domain name registration by the expiration date, the domain name registration is subject to deletion at any time after that. In an effort to help our customers avoid unintentional deletion of their domain name registration(s), we may, but are not obligated to, provide our customers with a “grace period” after their domain name registration services expiration date(s) (a “grace period” begins on the day after the date of expiration). We currently endeavor to provide a grace period that extends 35 days past the expiration date, to allow the renewal of domain name registration services. During this period a customer can renew a domain name registration; however, a grace period is not guaranteed and can change or be eliminated at any time without notice. Consequently, every customer who desires to renew his or her domain name registration services should do so in advance of the expiration date to avoid any unintended domain name deletion.

If an expired domain name registration is not renewed during any grace period provided by us, pursuant to our Service Agreement, rather than delete the domain name registration, we may, in our sole discretion, renew and transfer the domain name registration to Network Solutions or to a third party on the customer’s behalf."

I think that is what ICANN gives the registrar, not the registrar giving the client.

Are you fucked? In a word YES.

After 30 days you'll have to pay to get it back. A lawyer may or may not help you depends on how much you want to spend.

My question to you would be what domain is so valuable that you forget to renew until 30+ days after it expiries?

Even if they are supposed to give you time. You are a moron for letting it go past the expiration date and thinking it is still OK. You should have renewed it before the date. If the domain is so important to you, hopefully it is making you enough money where you had the 7 bucks to renew on time. You really have no on to blame but yourself for letting it expire. An expiration date is exactly what it says it is.

They did not swipe anything from you, you let it expire, they took it.

Good luck.

I own hundreds of domains. This domain is not developed and was just parked for now. The domain isn't worth millions but its worth thousands. I'm just use to how GoDaddy operates. That is where 99% of my domains are.. And I use auto renewal. Don't ask me how this domain expired with auto renew set. They wanted that domain. I will bet my life they'll put it back up for sale.

Money wasn't the issue. I new it needed my attention but I have enough shit to do and worry about each day. As I said before I thought I had more time. NetSol is shaddy and that is well known. Just look at all the lawsuits against them and their history. If you're defending them you're a fool.

It does seem a little shady. I used to think you had up to 45 days as well. However after 30 days it's always been more difficult and you waited after 30 days. Now if this happened to a domain you had which was only 3 days expired...

IMO, it's foolish to keep domains with them at all and has been for many years.

I'm into catching expired domains so I live by those ICANN times to determine drop dates, etc. Don't ask me why I thought all domains go that route. They sent the final notice email on day 30 and took it on day 37.

We'll see what happens. If I don't get it back I'll survive. It wasn't my crown jewel but it was a diamond on the ring.
