Are there any notable things to do in El Vendrell or Tarragona? The new venue being so far from Barcelona kind of means that I don't get to even see Barcelona on my first trip there...

I'm spending my first night in actual Barcelona for near enough that reason. I need to see at least a little bit of funky architecture before I hit the beach area. Luckily, the best man in my first wedding now lives in Barcelona and it is 40th (wow we got old) birthday that first night so I am making him my guide that night.

jsut take what ever... they all look crappy compare to Le Meridian ..
i booked it at Hotel Krussal Callafel.. it looks ok.. but not sure which is better , that one or Canada palaca..

There is a badass cemetary (I have a fascination with old ones) that is not too far from the airport, every time I pass it I wish I had more time to explore it!

Barcelona is awesome , lived there for over 4 years , .. just make sure you dont get pickpocketed . . there are plenty of thieves around , mostly moroccans and latinos that you need to look out for ..

dont like to sound racist , but thats how it is in barcelona , moroccans and latinos , are the ones that will rob you ...

Thanks for the tips on hotels, yall. I got two nights at the Meridian and am booking the Solimar for the first night.

I'm stopping off in Ireland first, though, to properly prep for the conference. ;) I'm also staying till Sunday and was thinking of hitting some of the closing parties in Ibiza. I just don't want to stay in Barcelona because for the past two weeks, all I've heard from friends is how they've all been robbed there, or had friends who got stabbed. Seriously... has anyone NOT been robbed in this city?!?! lol
