Fairly large bitcoin price drop today

What's going on Frank? :(

Time to buy more you think?

Dirty F 05-02-2013 08:07 AM

Wait, it will get lower i think. Buy when it does :)

Dirty F 05-02-2013 08:07 AM

I can easily see it going to 70 or lower.

MikeRoth 05-02-2013 08:09 AM

Now you know why I said I cashed out on Monday/Tuesday and was sitting on my cash, :pimp

Dirty F 05-02-2013 08:10 AM

This started with one fairly large sell yesterday. This triggered a panic selling that is reaching its peak now. People are such morons. They'll never learn.
Just pick up the coins that they are dumping and watch them cry later and wondering wtf just happened.

seeandsee 05-02-2013 08:14 AM

stronger than ever lol

Choopa Phil 05-02-2013 08:14 AM

SOOOO glad I got rid of what I had. Made a quick couple bucks, cashed out. Now waiting for it to dip lower so I can go buy some more :)

icu33774 05-02-2013 08:23 AM

i am lovin it :)

dyna mo 05-02-2013 08:24 AM

mid-week sell off. these used to happen on the weekends, i believe, then they switched to mid-week, reason being, according to some, is that peep's accounts are flush with funds.

Dirty F 05-02-2013 08:28 AM

This doesn't seem to be a DDoS issue. Engine lag is only 1-3 seconds.

I would too, just after I purchase more though! Once theyre down around 80ish ill be buying back in. For Dirty's sake I hope they don't drop but for me I sure hope so! Good Luck everyone, there is plenty of money to be made!

DWB 05-02-2013 08:35 AM

The news of more banks refusing to do business with Bitcoin can't be helping.

News like this ripples through the Bitcoin market just like it does in Wall Street when something happens.

If a large sell off happened in addition to that, it would drop it even more.

DWB 05-02-2013 08:39 AM

Forgot to add, Jeff Berwik pulled out of the Bitcoin ATM project today. So that is a kick in the nuts too. Saying this...

Quote:

After a day or two of pondering, however, I have realized that this may truly be a blessing in disguise. The biggest issue with BitcoinATM, and one that I have stated in the past many times, is that it is hardware. Any government, anywhere, can just come and take it away.

It was always the achilles heel of this product.

Fat Panda 05-02-2013 08:40 AM

this fake currency is DOOMED. get out while you still can before you're left holding the bag mallick style

And how do you protect or monitor such an ATM? Why with cameras of course, so there goes the anonymity of the BTC as well.

No it's no ddos. It's a few trades. Like 1% of what some of the bigger sites are doing. There was over a min of lag before.

No idea. I always thought the ATM was a dumb idea to begin with. Too early perhaps, as I don't see how they are going to justify the costs for the few who would use it. However, I think the project is still moving forward but without Berwick.

Eh I had the same attitude before, then I made money off it. Dont put all your eggs in one basket and only use what you can afford to lose. From here on out its all profit my initial margins have already paid for themselves. If I lose some profits in the process its all part of the game. It's knowing when to stop

MrBottomTooth 05-02-2013 08:51 AM

Hoping I can finally buy a few coins today at a decent price, then flip them as soon as the price rises. How long does a transaction take at mtgox? Hopefully not as long as it took to get verified.

right on!

MikeRoth 05-02-2013 08:54 AM

FTC was just added to BTCe. There are buy orders at 0.05 and 0.01. Quick profit since it's only trading at 0.0026 elsewhere.

MikeRoth 05-02-2013 09:12 AM

Looks like people are picking up on it. Trying to buy at bter at 0.003 and sell on btc-e at 0.006.

PromoterX 05-02-2013 10:11 AM

Seemed to have bottomed out at 92-95.... my position is at 114 so i'll hold and sell a bit later today most likely, this is just a profit taking correction.

k0nr4d 05-02-2013 10:16 AM

Im starting to think mtgox is just a big scam to earn interest on people's money.

I deposited money, took like 2 weeks to show up in my account. I added my bank account to their new magical wire center that is supposed to speed everything up - took a week to validate my iban number (what did they even check?). Now I requested a cash out, and 11 days later still no money. Complete bullshit, considering this is all done with banks inside the country so wires take no more then a few hours.

Choopa Phil 05-02-2013 10:16 AM

Hrmm, to buy or not to buy?

Domestic wire transfer, but we have two systems here. You can pay $10 and it's instant or it's free but takes a few hours.

Dirty F 05-02-2013 01:53 PM

Well, i was wrong, it didn't go below 90. The support at 94 or so was too strong. Guess a lot of people were waiting to buy cheap and weren't sure how low it would go and started buying when it reached 95. And since then we're back up it seems.

Seems the news from CoinLab vs MtGox lawsuit is panicking the market. BTC$ still bottoming out at mid 90's however. Guess i'll wait one more day :) lol :2 cents:

MainstreamGuy 05-03-2013 01:20 AM

lol @ bitcoin bubble...

- Jesus Christ - 05-03-2013 01:27 AM

It's the result of a series of bad news stories, the coinlab lawsuit and the forum being DDoSed.

Personally I could give a fuck how low it goes. It would push some of the really stupid speculators out and hopefully keep them out.

Are you referring to the 2011 "bubble" this last "bubble" or any of the future "bubbles" that will most likely occur?

Oh that's right your post is actually just the economic equivalent of a retarded person throwing a wooden block at a stock ticker.

That's the assumption I'm making. It's probably the botnet owner who was attacking silk road. Hes been pointing his network all over the place trying to extort people.

Yeah possibly. Or just someone who wants to spread even more panic. There has been at least 1 person who tries everything he can to kill Bitcoin since it got big.

They've been quoted as saying that one of their biggest issues with their banks is increasing their daily transaction limit so that's why customers end up with big waits when they request a transfer.

I do trust them but I think they are nieve and incompetent like the owner of Bitcoin-24

Read this article from the CEO of Mt Gox, it's fucking terrifying! It's like finding out the best hosting company in the world is powered by a hamster on a wheel :1orglaugh

They are fucking clueless and they are running transactions in the millions every single day :1orglaugh

Also

1) Peter Vessenes is suing the Bitcoin Foundation
2) SR (silkroad) was under a heavy DDOS attack
3) Someone embedded links to child pornography. This data will forever be immortalized in the blockchain and can never be deleted. The worst part? It also means that anybody who has the blockchain on their computer most likely has that data also. - Governments could have a field day with this one!
4) CoinLab has filed a lawsuit against Mt.Gox citing a breach of contract - http://coinlab.com/press

It's been an interesting few days :pimp

Who's buying back in? Sitting at $88 currently :pimp

MikeRoth 05-03-2013 04:36 AM

Still glad I'm all cash other than the 40 FTC I've mined.

Konda 05-03-2013 04:45 AM

Google Chrome could not load the webpage because mtgox.com took too long to respond.

Choopa Phil 05-03-2013 05:17 AM

Choopa Phil 05-03-2013 07:18 AM

Gottem! So glad I did, just as they started going up. Even tho I got in a little late on the upswing, literally as I was driving to the money gram place.
