Do you like your significant other's family?

Simple question. Not so simple to answer. :1orglaugh

At this point I am indifferent. I can't not like them as they're my kids' family too, but I can't really say that I do at the same time.

You?

Twig 09-07-2009 08:12 PM

very much

epitome 09-07-2009 08:16 PM

They're awesome. Couldn't ask for better. They treat me like their own and vice versa.

Mine treat my girl as such. So perhaps my expectations for her family are too high and they will never measure up.

I love them. They are family.

JA$ON 09-07-2009 08:21 PM

used to have issues (nothing major) with them. We are all quite pig headed :)

but the more grandkids we give them....and the closer they get to their "final years", the more we all realized that its not worth fighting over little things. The last few yrs have been outstanding :)

Deej 09-07-2009 08:22 PM

pretty much lunatics...

So there might still be a chance. But we did just bring out or 2 month old son for the first time and that didn't seem to help matters.

I'm talking the whole family too. Not just Mom and Dad. I loved her Mom, but she passed away 18 months ago.

Could just be that you have a more awesome family. :thumbsup

baddog 09-07-2009 08:45 PM

The entire family? I don't even like my entire family.

I don't dare say that. I'm sleeping in a guest room tonight as a result of of her and I having this discussion on a 6 hour drive back from a weekend spending time with hers.

LiveDose 09-07-2009 08:51 PM

We have grown to like eachother. It has been a long and bumpy road...

Let's say the parents and siblings.

I like her dad and one of her sisters.

My father-in-law was an awesome guy. The mother-in-law is a little bit of a pita. Attention seeker, name dropper, everything I despise in people. Deep down though she's a good person. My big problem with her these days is when she visits for a week and insists on walking around in her panties. Not attractive, and not cool. I'm already old enough that it takes longer than it should to get it up, but when she does that, I'm out for a good week.

Rochard 09-07-2009 09:33 PM

Funny you should ask; I just spent the weekend in SoCal with my in-laws and the entire extended family. Yeah, I like them. Very close knit family with great family values, and they are funny too.

"Dad" is kind of sad. He has health problems and instead of taking care of himself he's running himself into the ground.

Spunky 09-07-2009 09:40 PM

We tolerate each other

I really opened up a can or worms discussing it here at home. :1orglaugh

We did the same. Huge campout at her parents, even my family made the trek.

mmcfadden 09-07-2009 09:45 PM

hated them... it started where my wife planned every holiday with her parents. Loved her parents... only her parents. I grew a little from my own and went to every fuckin holiday, celebration with the bitches parents.

They love themselves and nobody else. They LOVED me... I mean... when I met my ex wife she weighed 85 pounds and 5'8... I started her eating again so her parents loved me for that.

Loved me up until the bitch fucked another guy and got pregnant and told her parents that I was beating her and abusive. Now they hate me... LOVE her bastard child.

Love her other child... Love the dick that fucked my wife...

LOL... ohhhh... inlaws are great!! Nah... I'll just stick with my family who might not be so cool but actually care about their loved ones AND even others...

sounds more like an ex wife issue and not an inlaw issue. i would expect most any family tto side with blood in a divorce.

i get along great with most of mine. there are a few i can not stand but they would not know it..

Sarah_Jayne 09-08-2009 03:45 AM

He doesn't have any siblings and his parents are fine. So, yes.

I am not the biggest fan of my sister's husband but she loves him and he isn't a bad person. Plus, they are having a kid soon and I would NEVER want the child to get any feeling of a rift between family members.

I wouldn't be thrilled about my other half talking down my family at all. So, I wouldn't do that to him even if I didn't like his parents. Luckily, I do.

rayadp05 09-08-2009 04:31 AM

Unfortunately, my wifes mother and father both passed away before we were married so I never really got to know them. However, I get along just fine my wifes two daughters. They are my stepkids as my wife was previously married to another man many years ago.

Me and the girls hang out and party all of the time. My stepdaughters are 19 years old and 24 years old. We have an awesome relationship with one another. Hell, one of the girls are even on my site. The other one really wants to be on the site too but her boyfriend will not allow it. But yeah, I get along just fine with my significant others family.

CaptainHowdy 09-08-2009 04:38 AM

I don't know my relative's significant others...

v4 media 09-08-2009 05:54 AM

My Mother in law loves me cause I make her lasagna and cheesecakes.

Vicious_B 09-08-2009 05:57 AM

My future in laws are amazing. Both of my parents passed away before I met my fiance and his parents have always accepted me and treat me like their own. My fiance still has his grandparents, great grandmother on his mom's side and his grandmother on his dad's side and they have all been great to me and my kids.

SGS 09-08-2009 05:57 AM

Yes, very much.

See these folks don't approve of "that shit". I have to sneak a quickie from a one hitter out behind one of the barns. Yet not once the entire weekend could you catch any of them with out a cigarette, cigar, beer or mixed drink in their hand...there were 6 HUGE bottles of Jack that got polished off. :1orglaugh

yeah... it is an ex-wife issue. but it was an inlaw issue as well...

my life is full of love right now and I still love to hate them a little. I spent close to 100k on the divorce, legal fees etc. and I can use a little hate to fill that void... ya know :thumbsup

if they ain't blood... they will not stick through thick and thin!

Point is... love your "significant others" family! be nice, have fun, maybe even have the greatest friends in the world you didn't otherwise know... but when push comes to shove... keep a little hate for them on the backburner cuz ya never know when you might need it :thumbsup

The girl I'm dating has a nice family, 2 of her cousins are around our age and live close, and we get together with them and party sometimes. Even her parents are pretty cool, but I haven't met the whole extended family yet :1orglaugh
