Yahoo hijacking my 404 pages
Okay first it happened with some sleazy auto-installed companion to RealOne player. If I typed in 'bklaselkasdasd.com' in my IE url bar it'd go to some 'helpful' net search site. Found it, deleted it.
Now somehow I searched for ONE thing in Yahoo! and all my god damned typein 404 pages go there! For example: http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=asefafsdf%2Ecom If I put a http:// in front of it I get the normal DNS error message from IE, but this is pissing me off. I deleted cache, cookies, searched for some setting somewhere, I want this piece of shit off my machine. Help please, I'm sure this has happened to many of you. Thanks in advance. |

Download an spyware removal program. (Ad Aware) Garentee That'll take care of it :thumbsup

real kicks ass.

0 identified in ad-aware. Now you can see why I'm ticked off. I keep my computer pretty clean, stuff like this really burns my balls. I have not used Yahoo! to search for anything other than movie listings until today, and it somehow changes my default 404 page (I even had friendly HTTP errors off) to their godawful search.
Anyone else? |
You may have already tried this, but you can customize the default search pages in IE. Click on Search in the Standard Buttons address bar, then go to Customize in the Search sidebar.

Google hijacked my laptop's 404 earlier today...l

Something got installed and replaced your original 404 dll file in the sys directory. 99% of the time its spyware. It has to be something that got installed on your computer. Maybe they can do that shit with javascript now, who knows. I'd be pretty pissed off too.

Try BHO-Cop. it might be a Browser Helper Object
the Hun has this page about it. http://www.thehun.net/articles/bhocop/ |
I personally would not rely on Ad-Aware just now. Here's why:
http://forums.techguy.org/t110304/s6...6260a49c2.html I'm currently using a combination of XBlock (http://www.xblock.com), WinPatrol (http://www.winpatrol.com/), and SpyBot (http://security.kolla.de/). _ |
