My big catch today...

Any people here like to fish?

Decided to take the day off and relax a little, take a fishing trip. Did pretty good today.

http://www.teamclickcash.com/funny/f..._5-18-2011.jpg

It was 3 of us, we caught 55 Speckled Trout and 1 Red Fish. The trout averaged about 2-3 pounds each, the Red Fish was about 8 pounds. Will be eating fish a little bit later, nothing like fresh fried fish for dinner :)

If you fish and have pictures of what you catch, post'em!

I played with my Trouser Trout today!!

I love to fish. I'm heading to Tennessee next month to fish with my dad for the month while my son is on summer break. I can't wait. It's sooo relaxing. I will take some pics for sure.

Here are a few pics from my last trip to the lake in Tennessee.

I'm supposed to go deep sea fishing next weekend here off the island as well. I'm hoping to get some fish!

Yeah, thank goodness for Fletch, because no one else was able to hang in there for the oil clean up last year, so if not for him there would have been oil everywhere.

It was a short trip, I was back home by 2. Catching fish is fun, but being out on the water and the boat ride is relaxing and fun as well. As far as buying them, it would have cost me 5x more to buy them then what it cost me to catch them, so that's cool too... more fish for me.

This is the first pike I ever caught and my first fish of the season.

On sunday I went for Carp and caught 3 or 4. Most were between 22-34". No pics. It was raining.

I guess I've been lucky. A couple hundred a year in general maintenance, no major problems or repairs since I bought the boat almost 10 years ago. You pay to launch it (or in my case a boat slip to keep it) and fuel to run it. When we take it out who ever goes chips in for some of the cost for fuel, bait or buys lunch. That's it really. No money pit here. I've seen people drop a lot more on their bikes or other hobbies.

cool picture, where did you catch it ?

B.Barnato 05-19-2011 11:10 AM

nice pics in here, as someone who has never ever fished before, does it make a difference to the experience and serenity if it is from a boat or land?

also do you smash the fish on the head or let it die in the air?

I think I might be too pusy to do that

2intense 05-19-2011 11:14 AM

very nice :winkwink:

I personally think the boat ride, serenity, being out in nature in most cases with no one else around, piece and quite is 1/2 of the experience, the other half is the competition and fun going into catching fish, then there is always eating them too. Fish are put into an ice chest where they die on their own. No clubbin them over the head like a seal LOL.

Here are some scenic pictures I dug up from previous fishing trips:

Day break over the marsh, with a shrimping boat in the background picking up his net:
http://www.teamclickcash.com/funny/fishing01.jpg

Out in the gulf with a line of thunderstorms blowing through, that produced a small water spout very close to an oil rig:
http://www.teamclickcash.com/funny/fishing02.jpg

One of the bigger fish I have caught, about a 20 pound Red Fish:

70lbs grouper I shot spearfishing a week or so ago.

Smaller Grouper caught using a down rigger.

45lbs Snapper caught on a down rigger.

I love to fish / spearfish. I used to fly fish for Red Fish a lot in Texas. Those are some nice ones posted!

:)

Sweet wig. :thumbsup

alias 05-19-2011 02:38 PM

Are you spearfishing from a boat or while diving?

The 3 F's. If it flies, floats or fucks, your better of renting it!

We usually sell our catch to the local restaurants. Last week we shot 500lbs of grouper, 200lbs of snapper and 100lbs of snook. Sale price whole is about $0.80 to $1.50 a pound depending on the type of fish.

It almost always pays for all our gas, ice, food and drinks, and usually we'll take a 100lbs to my friends restaurant where we trade that for a a kick ass dinner and a few bottles of wine!

WebairGerard 05-19-2011 02:42 PM

Time to do some fishing here too! Nice catch! :thumbsup

We free dive from a boat. Normally, there is a current so we locate our spot, drop a buoy to mark it, we take the boat up current and jump in.

We basically ease towards the buoy and then make our descent as the current brings us to the spot (structure of some sort; wreck, rock croppings, etc). One guy stays on the boat and we take turns.

Sounds awesome. Easy to move around with just fins, snorkel and weights if you want.
