I think you're very right. He wants attention for he worst reasons and now it's going to insure he goes to prison for a very long time. He likely went into a state of deep emotional distress upon realizing that he was not in control of the story being told. Donny likely thinks he's much smarter than any attorney and Is likely convinced of his own innocence noatter how guilty he is.

That's when I started thinking "oh, he's a bit of a megalomaniac and really he just needs to be heard, he doesn't care about others opinions and his primary intent seems to be to reinforce his own intellectual superiority over others"

It's amusing that people like Baddog would rush to defend someone who is so clealry and obviously flawed in their behavior to the point that even the casual observer can see that he is deeply troubled... but then again most standard forms of "crazy" come with a powerful ability to routinely manipulate and deceive others. if I'm not mistaken BD did work in the legal field somewhat and that has probably influenced his concepts mores so than Donny has...

I felt he was doing it more for the cash than the spiritual salvation.

I didn't necessarily have a negative experience but just one of those sorts that rose red flags instantly since the sincerity of his mission seemed so selfish and not altruistic at all. Sociopaths tend to be totally tone deaf to their own inconsistencies and inaccuracies. My wife has a Masters in Psychology and she tells me that is one of the character traits therapists quickly zero in on.

Wished him luck and he went on his way.

Not the sort of person I would do biz with, nor in God would I trust.

I find it very interesting that his porn peers were calling him out early on for his questionable ethics, but the God squad folks bought into his game without question.

'It's A Horrible Life' - (2104)

Plot synopsis - It's Christmas Eve and Donny Pauling, a pastor and motivational speaker, finds himself separated from the ones he loves, his teenage son, his devoted mother and a bevy of troubled underaged girls he counsels and rapes. Donny is despondent and alone, locked up in the Bedford Falls County Jail accused of terrible crimes he knows he did not commit but how will he ever convince a judge that statutory rape is an act of love? In a moment of weakness Donny loses all faith and decides to commit suicide by strangling himself in his cell with his underpants. Unbeknownst to Donny he is being watched from on high, an angel named Clarence, anxious to earn his angel wings First Class is quickly dispatched to Earth to intervene and save Donny from his own hands. Clarence, a very clever angel, enters Donny's cell impersonating a jail guard grabbing the underpants with which Donny was just about to kill himself with. Donny protests that he wants to die but Clarence has another idea.

Clarence takes Donny backwards through time presenting a series of vignettes from childhood to adulthood to show Donny what life would have been like had he never existed - Donny sees his 5 year old self tricking his younger brother into giving him his most cherished toy, then as an older child telling grandiose lies about his accomplishments, serving on Student Council as a high schooler where he misappropriated funds raised in a charity carwash, falsely accusing other students at his community college of cheating on their exams, then as a young pornographer preying on young innocent girls to model and masturbate naked for him through a devious bait and switch technique he continuously perfected, misrepresenting himself to clients, ripping off his fellow photographers, Donny developing a relationship with a young model he claimed was the love of his life showing her how much he loves her by sharing her with another man in the porn industry so he could watch her have sex with this other man, then when she falls in love with the other man Donny begins a seige of harassment and stalking that lasts years, Clarence shows Donny recreating himself as a fallen sinner dedicating himself to God's word but not really as Donny turns his new faith into a money making enterprise while still continuing to deceive and prey on people, finally Clarence shows Donny and his creepy friend Lewis the sheriff raping Lewis' 16 year old ******** and Donny continuing to bribe and coerce underaged girls into having sex with him.

Clarence realizes he's made a terrible mistake, the world had not been better off for Donny's existence. Clarence is panicked, he intended to save a man's life by showing him the good in him and he wanted those angel wings First Class so badly after waiting centuries. What to do? Clarence dashes out of the cell and returns with an ice pick stabbing Donny repeatedly screaming 'IT WAS A WONDERFUL LIFE WASN'T IT DONNY PAULING!?!?! The article says that the cop is apparently on tape (the girl's boyfriend recorded a conversation with him) admitting he has a "problem". If that tape is played in open court, there should be no doubt about a conviction -- it sounds pretty damning for the cop.

The D.A. argued for a $5MM bail (and the judge agreed) because the cop was a SWAT member, and threatened to take a bunch of people out if he got arrested. The bail for the child-related charges was $150k; the rest was out of "public safety" concerns, so he didn't go on a shooting spree.

Who had good experiences?
