Might have been Maxcash, or ARS, Flashcash, or even Oliver Klozov for all I know. I added more than a dozen programs my first year in, any one of them could have been the one that sent that first check. Hard to recall more details on it, as that first one wasn't all that big, maybe thirty-five bucks. But all the ones that followed, ahh, now those were memorable.

It's the journey I remember most though; link trading with Slick and Minte, submitting to Tommy's, Greenguy's, PK's, Snake'sworld, theHun, Shemp, Thumbzilla, ELEPHANTLIST, Dr Bizarro, hundreds of others. The late 90's. Great times, insane money.

My first check was from ICS - From Lensman.

Oddly enough, when I got the check I looked at the address and it was just a few blocks away in Livermore, California.... In fact, it was a few doors down from where my wife worked at the time. A short time later Tanker, who worked at ICS at the time, contacted me and offered me a job at ICS. Ironically I told him "There is no money to be made i porn". Four years later we hired Tanker to work at Lightspeed Cash, and of course years later I ended up as General Manager of ICS when Playboy bought them out.

I put up fake personals ads on a now global postings site that started in San Francisco. In the ad I pretended to be a young woman of about 19 who had just posed nude and regretted it. I asked people to check out the site (I was promoting, teenrevenue) and tell me if I had been a good girl or bad girl. I would get 1,000 hits to the site (and some joins now and then) before the posting would get flagged.

I told this kid at school that it was a special bootleg XXX Nintendo game that required a special cheat code and sold it to him for $20. Remember, those cheat codes could get pretty complicated. So I just made one up and then every day when he would come back to complain and tell me that it didn't work, I would just tell him that he got the code wrong or that I must have made a mistake and then would give him a new one with a slight adjustment. This guy was pretty much like the DV Times or Gary of my class, so I was able to keep it up for about 2 weeks. I gave him the $20 back but all those laughs my friends and I had about it were priceless. Haha!
