Trump has claimed that attending a military academy during his high school years was essentially the same as serving. He also effectively dodged the draft during the Vietnam War with claims of bone spurs, educational deferments, and a high draft number.

On Saturday, during a campaign stop in Iowa, Trump said he had a bone spur in his foot but couldn’t recall which one.

Pressed for details, he told reporters to research his draft records. “You’ll have to look it up,” he said. Later that day, his campaign issued a statement saying he had bone spurs in both of his heels.

that's what i said, it's not a story. the story was a veteran's group asked Trump to speak at their rally, yahoo spun that into a rehash of Trump going to college 50 years ago.

it's different from benghazi because the benghazi investigation has evolved into a bigger investigation including alleged illegal communications and racketeering.

This is what I hate about politicians. They claim to be for something when they obviously are not. Do you think Trump wore a US flag pin on his suit every day before he decided to run? Nope. Not only did Trump dodge the draft, he made no attempt to send any of his kids into the military. NOTHING could be more honorable than sending their child to the Naval Academy or West Point and then having them serve in the military for four years.

This is not about Trump and him dodging the draft; Clinton didn't send their daughter into the military. After being First Lady and becoming a Senator, did Hillary Clinton do anything for Vets? Any fund raising events? Did she give any free speeches to any Veterans groups? What about Trump? Trump had no issues accepting a $150k federal grant for one of his buildings from a 9/11 fund, but did he do anything for Veterans before he decided to run? He was a huge businessman in NYC for years - Wasn't he involved in dozens of charity groups in the area?

I understand the military isn't for everyone, but don't stand up on a pedestal and tell us about how you support Vets when you haven't done jack shit for them other than furthering your own career.

(And just in case anyone was wondering, yes, my kid has in fact sat down with a Marine recruiter. My daughter has zero interest, but at least I tried.)

it's my understanding the FBI investigation into the criminal activities of HIllary exploded only after the FBI began the benghazi investigation, based on what they uncovered from the emails hills tried to delete the investigation expanded. not due to republican pressure on the FBI.

But this also just validates my point: None of them gave a rat's ass about Veterans until the moment they decided to run for office. "I've done a lot for Veterans". Sure sure. What did Trump do for Veterans before he decided to run for office? Nothing. Notta. Zilch. What has Trump EVER done for Veterans? Anything?

Trump just came to California and spoke in Fresno. There were people in the audience waving signs saying "Farmers for Trump". LOL. What Trump ever done for farmers? Nothing at all. He flew in, had a single meeting with a small group, and was instantly able to solve California's drought problem on the spot (seems we are just "shoving the water out into the ocean" lol).

He'll say anything. "I am here to support YOU" but has zero clue of what your needs are or what you want.

They all do it. Clinton is no different. But at the very least I am sure that Hillary can say "Well, in my lifetime I've attended multiple charity events for veterans / farmers / homeless etc - because she has been in government so long. But she's the same, they are all. What has Hillary done for Veterans? Can you name one damn thing? What about Trump?

I am not saying that at all. I'm just saying don't stand up and say "I am for veterans" when you have lived fifty years old and NEVER done a single thing for veterans until the moment he decided to run for public office.

I guess we'll never know if Trump ever donated to any veterans groups - he won't release his taxes. But he was quick to take hundreds of thousands of dollars from the Federal 9/11 fund.

That was during the meat-grinder years on the Vietnam war. I really cannot fault Trump on that one. You were poor you got drafted or if you could afford to pay for college you got a student deferment -- all the way to your PhD if you could afford it.

Vietnam was not a necessary or just war. Also, as a result of the draft 70% of the servicemen were conscripted from less favored economic backgrounds.

North Vietnam never attacked the sovereign USA soil. Vietnam was American Imperialism following French Imperialism.

I did read them.

1. He claims he had bone spurs in his feet. So he needs to prove that with a medical exam. If there is no evidence of bone spurs, he needs to be charged.

2. Yes the US is losing the war with ISIS. Like it lost the war in Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Korea, etc. The reason isn't the lack of spending. It's losing because of stupidity. When will Americans get it into their heads winning or losing is down to perspective? Big business wins every time. Americans lose every time. The people the US choose to go to war do not like you and do not want to be like you. They don't welcome being bombed. The majority see the murders and genocide of minorities as the best way. Paul... you do realize that bone spurs go down after the cause of the bone spur is eliminated right? For example, I got bone spurs on my side of foot from ski boots when I was skiing 5 times a week... when that slowed my bone spurs went away.
