The news media is saying that Obama had a bigger crowd at the event itself.

Both are correct.

Trump is saying that more people watched on television around the world and combined with the crowd at the event more people saw his inauguration and heard his speech.

If both things are true...that more people attended Pres. Obama's inauguration in person and more people saw Pres. Trump's...then what would you call that?
Conway chose "alternative".

The media chooses to make Trump look bad in any way they can. So they went with the numbers in attendance at the event.

Trump's team chooses to make Trump look good in any way they can. So they went with the numbers of people in attendance PLUS watching around the world.

Again...the media, and people such as yourself who hate Trump...choosing to deliberately pretend that they don't grasp such an easy concept to understand.

If this had been Hillary's inauguration she would have had even less in attendance. No excitement like there was for Pres. Obama as the first black President.

Having said that...it may be BECAUSE of the better streaming of today that Trump's was bigger than Reagan's or Obama's 2009 one as well.

The old media just can't wrap their heads around the fact that they are the least watched of all sources available. Facebook Live, Twitter Live didn't even exist when Pres. Obama was sworn in in 2009.

And the YouTube live streams in 2009 weren't the best either.

It's only been the last 3 or 4 years that ISP's have finally gotten the speed to really do a great job of streaming (like with NetFlix) that can bring a great live feed with no "stuttering" to people.

So yeah... AGAIN, for all of the Trump haters who just refuse to see the reality: Trump was seen by more people world wide.

In 2009 there was no Facebook Live. There was no Periscope for Twitter Live.
They simply did not exist.

HD streams were just starting to gain popularity because ISP's were just starting to get the bandwidth to be able to do them without stuttering.

I think I already said all of this didn't I?

And I also think I already said that Trump's had more viewers probably because of the technology moving forward.

T.V. viewership is way down because of internet viewing. Young people watch more stuff on NetFlix streaming than they do on cable t.v.

These are all factors that the mainstream media ignores.

So use your own common sense.
There was NO internet in 1981 when Reagan was sworn in (which was the most viewed in history until Obama's 2009 inauguration).
There wasn't much live streaming on a massive scale in 2009 when President Obama was sworn in...which was the new number one for viewers.

Now in 2017...there are hundreds of millions around the world watching live streams on the internet.

Use this knowledge and figure it out for yourself.
38 million watched Pres. Obama on television 8 years ago.

30 million watched Trump on television in 2017 when t.v. viewing is down thanks to internet streaming.

Using common sense would tell you that more than only 8 million watched various live streams from across the globe.
Are there any "numbers" for that?

No. At least I don't think there is any way to have the exact number of every person who watched official feeds on every streaming platform...PLUS the number of people in the live crowd who were all streaming it via their own accounts on Facebook, Periscope, Youtube, etc.

If you don't believe the modern technology allowed that inauguration to be viewed by more people...then you living in the past (just like the obsolete mainstream media).

And I am NOT saying that Trump is more "popular" than Obama or Reagan.

I don't think that at all. Not after the divisiveness of the last 2 Presidents in office.

I believe it's the technology that did it for him.

And if I were some "reporter" on CNN I would do exactly what they are doing...try to downplay this so that they don't look weak and obsolete.

And if I were Trump I would do exactly as he is doing...try to play it up to make myself appear more popular.

This ain't hard to see on both sides. You just have to step back from the politics of it and ask yourself why each side even CARES about the numbers.

Because the media is trying to make it seem like Trump is the only one worried about the numbers.
But trust me...it's important to CNN too. It's all about advertising dollars and trying to prove their relevancy in a changing technological world.

Millions of people have dropped their cable t.v. in favor of internet streams.

Millions of people have stopped using computers and watch most things on their mobile devices.

You are aware of all of that right? You are in this business right? You do have google analytics to see the trending toward mobile on your sites right?
You are aware that MILLIONS and MILLIONS of people watched the inauguration on live streams on the internet...right?

If you deny all of that...then there isn't much we can discuss rationally.

I'll say it again: I don't think it was viewed more because so many people think Trump is great and love him.

I think it was viewed more because of the combination of curiosity (just like Pres. Obama generated in 2009) AND the addition of live feeds around the WORLD.

People who don't even own televisions were watching.

I watched Chris Wallace on Fox News today showing pictures to Pribus (Trump's chief of staff) of Obama giving his speech at his first inauguration with the place packed.
Then he showed Pribus a pic of Trumps crowd looking much smaller.

THEN Pribus pointed out that the Obama picture was taken during the time of his actual swearing in and speech.

The Trump crowd picture was taken long BEFORE the swearing in and speech when people were still filing in.

I'm telling you, you can't trust what the media tells you. They will give you half truths and then spin it to their own devices.

Don't forget that within the first hour of Trump being sworn in...the media put out a story that Trump had the MLK bust removed from the Oval Office.
It was a total lie...FAKE news designed to piss off black people.

When the Trump team showed reporters that it was still there...the reporter who originally "broke the story" claimed that "someone must have been standing in front of it in the photograph" he used to make up that story in the first place.
And then the reporter tweeted an apology to the Trump administration.

But that's the kind of shit the media does. They proclaim "facts" and report them like it's the gospel truth.

Spicer pointed out how many people each section held but the sections were not full. I already posted up the earthcam shot from the 12:15 time frame but I will do it again. Is earthcam not neutral enough for you? There is a readable timestamp in the lower left.



If you want I can do up a composite of that up against the other pics floating around showing they were taken about the same time and not "hours before" as it is trying to be framed. They were definitely druing the ceremony.

Here is another one I took from a "Trump Friendly" feed yesterday (feed was provided by nragt.com) that shows the crowdbut the angel is a higher angle then the dais so you can see some of the openings that you cannot see from the dais level shots. This is from 3 minutes into the speech. I have posted the youtube link in at least one other thread and I am not going to waste time tracking it down.



The reporter that said the MLK bust was gone was corrected and apologized for getting it wrong on Friday. He also apologized to all the reporters that ran with the story. They do sometimes get shit wrong, ya know?

Spicer tweeted he accepted the apology on Friday. Didn't stop him from framing it differently on Saturday now did it?
