It's all the shitty business stuff he did.

Stealing people's work, not paying his talent, over-printing his commissions so he could sell more on the side, all the criminal characters that he worked with and for, etc.

He had zero business ethics. His Foundation is still being sued for crap he did
30 or 40 years ago. I wrote a detailed book about what he did and how he got away with it.
Took over a year to research, write and edit it.

yeah he dies. Actually that was his last "artwork", a commission for a bank in Italy. I tested Last Supper or distressed Soup Can for the cover. Can polled higher but those who preferred LS had more interest.

I'd guess anyone who became famous and stayed famous in NYC in the late 50s through 70s did some bad shit; he did a lot of it. Even the ballerinas* were sticking cocaine up their asses in those days. Further, Warhol was a marketer, and most celebrity in the 60s and 70s was outright fabrication (see Rock Hudson).
