So I have reached 1,000 posts for better or worse. Thanks to those who have shared knowledge and been nice to me

Now, I thought I should use this post to do some good. I recently found out about a fundraising for a child down here. He has been diagnosed with Leukodistrophy (for those who remember the early 90s, it is the disease the child from Lorenzo's Oil suffered). He just turned 7 years old and they need to raise 1 million dollars to pay for an operation to save his life.

The case is fully documented and is not a scam, they've tried to gather funds by rallies and events in several places of Mexico, they have been on TV trying to get donations, but by December 20th, they have reached only 15% of the goal

And how come they need exactly a million when they don't even know how to cure it? its a fucking scam, and I don't care how many TV shows they have been on

They do not claim it will cure him. The site clearly states that since there are so few cases there are just experiments thus far to see if it is possible to stop the brain degeneration.

According to the report, the operation would be only a bone marrow transplant along with several other tests and treatment for about 4 months, which are typical in the treatment to try and stop the disease somewhat. And this can only be done in the US and France. It is ridiculously expensive just to see if Nicolas is apt and of course, financing is out of the question since the kid isn't American.

That you're very cynical doesn't make everyone liars. They weren't on some morning talkshow weeping. They were on the most respected news show where I had never seen any other weepy story mentioned.

What report, what documentation, what hospital in the US and what hospital in France?

The report on the news show which would've not been shown without proper proof. They mentioned France and Minesotta, don't know the names of the hospitals because it was a short report (2 mins) and it was obviously not the main thing to talk about. You can email them directly and ask if you want... site has an English version.

I do not know these people so I don't see why the need to attack my post as if I was trying to scam anyone... if you think it's a scam then just ignore this. I have read the site, seen them on the news, and seen reports on the rallies organized (concerts etc) and think that even if it's a scam, donating a couple of dollars won't hurt any of the many people here who claim to spend hundreds a day.
