I'm pretty sure you would have known about that long before going to ancestry.com, not to mention, you would probably require some sort of executive security.

Now, now, everyone just slow down here. It,s actually legit. I've had it checked by a professional historian/professor at stonybrook university here on the island. However, there are several points where assumptions are made, for example where the Viking line crosses over to the roman line. It's based on mentions in several works of writings which of course are not official accounts of history so a DNA test will have to be taken to help verify it. History, especially during the dark ages is pretty weak but as far as accuracy it's about as close as someone can get. DNA testing will show maternal markers that match strains that pinpoint geographic areas at certain times so then I'll be 99 percent. Right now it's a close 90 though. No shit.

Well, to put this into context, the descendants of the Merovingian kings are all under executive security protection. Even the nobodies. They don't exactly fuck around with that shit. There are legitimate security concerns.

My father died when I was nine months old, and I was never close to my father's side of the family. I never knew anything about my family history. I met the "family historian" when I was thirty-three, and it just so happen that she works full time at a college as a Genealogist - someone who traces family trees, etc.

I was stunned to learn I was Irish.

There are about ten spots where the years are wrong. Two explanations in at least two cases a mother dies in childbirth or while the child is young and the grand parent become parents of record in the church and in other cases they are just plain wrong. You can find the same person quoted as living give or take 20 years. I had the same question.

Sketchy records, absolutely. But the bloodlines are as accurate as can be expected. One thing in my favor is from the 1600's back, it's all aristocrats and royalty so there are multiple sources to cross reference.

it is in ancestry.com's best interests to take those leaps and assumptions, it's good for business

I say fuck ancestry.com, you should be going straight to the church records yourself, and the instant you have to make any leaps or assumptions is where your trail can be assumed inaccurate (but from what I've seen these leaps and assumptions are ancestry.com's bread and butter)

surprisingly church records are extremely accurate and go back far in the centuries

It's based on mentions in several works of writings which of course are not official accounts of history so a DNA test will have to be taken to help verify it. History, especially during the dark ages is pretty weak but as far as accuracy it's about as close as someone can get. DNA testing will show maternal markers that match strains that pinpoint geographic areas at certain times so then I'll be 99 percent. Right now it's a close 90 though.
