New webmaster with tons of questions!

Hey there everyone,

I'm a new adult webmaster I want to introduce myself and ask you all a ton of questions about the business! Sorry in advance for this text wall!

The idea to start in the biz started a few weeks ago, when I realized that liking porn and knowing my web/tech stuff could be a good start to become an adult web master. So a few weeks ago I started with the development of my own porn blog named "Geeks Love Porn". By now I've filled my blog with about 50 articles from a two sponsors (Brazzers and BangBros), but I'm planning to add many more sponsors before the actual launch. The articles are generated from spidered content, hand picked images and a manually created 1 minute HQ movie trailers.

It was relatively easy for me to make some nifty tools, an ok blog and all the other stuff we geeks are good at, but now that I've arrived at the point where my tech stuff is starting to get done, I'm having some trouble working on the business aspect of the whole blog thing. Promotion, picking the right sponsors, picking a specific niche, etc. My global question, which I will describe in more detail later, is where I need to go from here?

First of all, the content and niche. I've seen alot of people recommend to pick a specific niche and focus on that. I currently don't think I really have a niche, appart from the very mainstream stuff (big tits, big dicks, milfs, etc.) that Brazzers and BangBros offer. This is fine with me, as I kind a like the mainstream stuff, but I don't know if its good enough for an attractive blog. So queation one...how important is the niche and how much/deep specialisation is recommended?

My following question regards the content. Currently I'm using the movie description from the sponsor as my blog article text. Its very easy to use grab, but there are many blogs doing the exact same thing. So I'm thinking of hiring a writer to make custom 1000 word descriptions for each movie. However, this is quite the investment and I'm not sure if its worth the effort. Maybe anyone reading this has some experience with this subject. Question summary; would it be worth hiring a writer for custom blog articles? (By now I've hired a blog post writer [BlogTexter on this forum] writing 500 words per article)

The third question relates to the outgoing links selection. I don't want to put too many outgoing links on my blog. Probably just a top 5, and thats it. Not because of the possible SEO damage some people talk about, but just because I don't want to bother my visiters with a huge list of links. I've also heard that its best to keep in the same genre when adding links to other websites...so tgp to tgp, blog to blog, mgp to mgp, etc. This leads to the following question; what would be a wise policy for selecting this limited set of links?

My final question, for now at least, is related to getting shitloads of traffic. My blog is obviously aiming for recurring visitors, but I need to get it started somehow. So I want to do some booster campain during the first few months to make sure people get farmilliar my blog. I've done some experiments with Traffic Holder, but I wasn't extremely happy about that. So what alternatives are there? I read about hardlinks everywhere, but I don't understand the whole idea yet (which might sound stupid). I understand that its a link to my blog, but the where, how, how much traffic to they generate and "how to get quality links" are unclear to me; maybe some examples will enligten me. Are some other alternatives I don't know about yet? Summary of my final question; whats the best strategy to boost traffic to my blog.

If you've made it here, I want to thank you for reading it all the way and I hope you can help! ;)

Hope to hear from you soon!

Softie

PS. I'll add my URL once I made my 30 posts here!

Hehe, I'm almost at my 30 posts...buy yeah it is. Just add www and some additional url parameters to it, because I don't want it to be "public" for now! So I'll be back in a sec with the link showing some of the stuff! ;)

Coolio - just so you know, I'm new to the scene as well. And so far I'm enjoying every day of it.
I work full time as a web developer at a digital agency in London... when I get home, i put in a little time to update the site.
When things begin to get real busy at work - I publish a load of content that is embargoed / set to go live at set dates.

Updating content on a regular basis actually helps build site popularity. And I write all the content i publish - except the RSS content feeds.

I realise you can't write all the content for your site - and it was a smart move to hire a writer to get things started. But you should put in the time when your up and running, just to get the feel of it and to get better at it as well!

With regards to linking - my existing blog doesn't contain any skimming - all links are direct to galleries.
I just hate getting jerked around by sites that send me to an entirely different site - than was advertised. I find myself ditching such sites in a heart beat.
With that said - link trading can be beneficial for your site also - so long as you keep it to a certain percentage.

While on the topic of SEO - it may be an idea to request hard linking to other mainstream sites.
This increases your validity amongst search engines like google.

I have a number of hard links to TGPs or blogs... and they hard link back to me in return.

One thing that needs addressing on my site are adverts... there simply aren't enough.
That's good and bad... good because it's clean. Bad because it lowers the potential for sales. I'll be addressing that this week!

Mmm, I was hoping I was able to edit, but I couldn't...so here's the URL:

http://www.geeksloveporn.com/?x=x

There is this funky x=x keep the site "private" until the release date...want to go online the 1st of jan!

Thx for your tips and advice in advance! ;)

I like the site.
It's nicely laid out and by the looks of it, I would visit often - good job!

Hard link trade? ;-)

Edit - One recommendation that occurs to me this instant.
You should make your promo images links. This is something I should have done from the start with my site.
It's a lot more user friendly to do so.

You are wasting time by not having that on the index of the domain and starting to let the SE's find it and index it.

Dont wait for a Launch. If no one is there, no one will care. get it posted LIVE.

Yeah, same here I also generate a buffer of blog posts that go live about 5 times a day! Keep up that buffer!!! :D

Yeah I just hate writing stuff. I'd rather spend 10 hours coding then 10 minutes of writing! ;) Anyways, its ok for now...I do have "some" money to invest! :D

I also want to keep a skim free blog. I hate that stuff as well. However, I don't know if its the best strategy. Maybe in the next 2 years I will learn the pro's and cons!

Yeah, I need to start getting some good trades as well. I'm also interested in buying some, but I don't know what to look for and how to get the "quality" adds and links.

Yeah, I sure need to find a way to add a nice and visible link to my sponsors with every blog post, but I am still looking at a good way to do this.

About the niches - if you choose a really small specialized niche if you will get better conversion ratios, but less traffic from sources such as search engines and related niche trade sites.

General big niches such as big tits will have a lot of traffic, but the conversion ratios will be smaller.

I started out about a year ago with my blog, so wanted to wish you good luck! Advice wise i'd say... don't be afraid to try things, work hard, respect your visitors and treat them how you'd like to be treated, and remember the relationships you hold with other webmasters are 10x more valueable than any links to them.

I just realised, the templates are like bangbros old templates. Did you get your inspiration from them?
http://geeksloveporn.com/

Not that it's a bad thing. I'm inclined to think that it'll work positively in your favour ;-)

Good looking site. The most important thing is to fill it up with posts in the start and trade with related sites. It would be a good move to make another blog so that you can do some ABC trades..

Good luck

Well, I claimed the whole geekslove... series. So geekslovetits, geekslovemilfs, geeksloveass, etc. I was thinking to have these sites display a subset of the main blog geeksloveporn.com. But I read in my SEO bible that this might be seen as a link farm by SE's and decided to forget about that idea for now. I also just didn't find time to fill the specific sub blogs with content yet.

Anyways, I'm set for 5 updates a day now, so within a year I should have about 2000 articles...which will start to be a nice amount.

Thx for the advice and thumbs up from everyone!

It is called A-B-C link trading to keep the site clean. Use the traffic trade section of this forum to find great sites to trade with.

Get it on
