2008 Beijing Olympic Games - Russia invades Georgia.
2014 Winter Olympics in Soch - Russia invades Ukraine.

Deja vu, well let's hope they won't start another war or escalate more bloody shit in Ukraine during FIFA World Cup 2014.

It's cool to have an idiot like you here, but

1) Russia did not invade Georgia in 2008. Russia just responded to the Georgian army attack on Russian troops. Educate yourself : http://euobserver.com/foreign/28747

2) There are no Russian forces in the Ukraine right now. Otherwise the Ukrainian army would be terminated within hours. The one must not be a rocket scientist to understand that simple fact.

Putin has left those Russian separatists whom are probably a large number Russian troops, out to hang. Also I realize you want to be all wave the flag and all, but those 100 troops are dead. They didn't take out 1000 Ukraine forces.. They died and Ukraine didn't lose a single soldier..

Putin pretty much showed that he can steal land from any country that is not in NATO, is this what you call "good for Russia?" What is the end goal? Building brand new and shinier USSR? That worked really well last time....

The sooner Russia gets rid of this midget, the better off the Russians will be - in 2014 you don't need a dictator with Napoleon complex, you need a working economy that is built on something more than oil and gas.

So it's a good thing to further isolate Russia from the rest of the world and to create a enemy on their own boarder where before they got along for the most part? Not to mention making Russia and business with-in bad investment and encouraging the EU to start looking else where for gas needs? All in exchange for a plot of land, this is a good deal?

50% of the Russians want to live in the US. Run a referendum in Russia city by city and you are going to lose half your territory.

Borders exist for a reason; I guess Putin didn't really pay attention in geography classes.

I don't consider this a "new" government at all. That's like a new US President taking office and a handful of people in Texas deciding they don't like it and trying to take over state buildings.

The former President tried to tilt towards Moscow and the rest of the population didn't like it, so he was legally removed from office by the government itself.

I am guessing the majority of Ukrainians want to be tilting more towards Europe and the EU than Russia; Europe is the standard all countries wish to achieve while Russia seems to be forty years behind the curve.

Barely geography but borders established by the law.

Actually it was shown that it was a very close 50/50 vote and Russia lied about the result that they made public. Meaning it might of been even less people whom wanted to be Annexed than 50%. Showing that it was not a clear majority.

There was no neutral third party to oversee the vote either, which is why Russia got away with the lie until the vote results were made public.

ie the problem was Russia stealing Ukraine's land.

Shown where? But somehow no clashes, kills, devastation and all that mess coming when you try to force things like "stealing land" (that is your definition).

LOL, who did told you that bullshit? Those who wanted to live in the States already live there. Those who don't, stay here. Please don't confuse Russia with poor countries like Namibia, Moldova or Bulgaria. Those would prefer live anywhere but not in their own countries. For example, I'm Russian and I live in Russia. Now what about you?

It seems you have some secret information which is unavailable to me here. Could you please share it with us? Which exactly territories will leave Russia and where will the go? What exactly advantages they will gain in such a case?

As I said, all of them but two:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...)_per _capita

GDP per capita 2014

Poland Russia
22,201 18,408

Hungary Russia
20,817 18,408

Latvia Russia
20,204 18,408

murder rate - 2-3 times higher in Russia
corruption - 2-3 times higher in Russia
democracy - flawed democracy in most, none in Russia

and so on...

With massive population and tons of oil and gas, you should have been at least as developed as the Czech.

Do you personally know any Crimean citizen who is not happy joining Russia? I know many Crimeans. They never felt themselves as Ukrainian citizens. That's just FYI

Sorry to disappoint you but World Bank is much more trustful source than Wikipedia

Bulgaria: 6,977 and down.
Hungary: 12,560 and down.
Poland: 12,710 and down.
Russian Federation: 14,037 and up.

Massive population is always a negative factor for economics. If Russian population was comparable with say Canadian one, the GDP per capita would be much higher. The one must not be a rocket scientist to understand it.

As about Czech Republic. Yes, right now its GDP per capita = 18,690 which is higher than in Russia, but it's seriously down, so just wait for a few years and compare again

you just saved me time to write something what should be obvious. Also, extreme size of country with 11 time zones is also a factor ( different cultures and religions that need to be controlled, managed, satisfied)

Plus our cold weather. We can't live in cardboard houses like most Americans do. The country spends a lot on heating and on transportation and on infrastructure support. Russia is very huge and you somehow need to transport people, goods, food, gas, electricity etc through the whole territory. As I said already, a weather here is not a fun. In continental Russia the temperature may fluctuate from -40C (winter) to +40C (summer). Even the road surface can't withstand this.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Developed_country

And the list of highly developed countries now include Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Lithuania, Latvia and all former communist countries, but the last two that joined the EU. Russia is nowhere to be found on that list, go figure.

The Ukrainian national guards have got a right to kill those who denied to shoot at civilians. According to various sources (e.g. http://strategia-22.livejournal.com/11369.html), 10 troops of the Ukrainian internal forces were executed by the national guards

In fact, the GDP per capita (PPP) is what gives you the most accurate way of comparison. You don't have to take my word for it, Google it if you want to.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...PP)_per_capita

Feel free to check out the numbsrs.

P.S. You haven't answered to my question. What's your national origin (the country you were born and got a citizenship in) and where do you live now? Answer to my question please to make it clear.

Thank you in advance!

About 100 Ukrainian soldiers in Lugansk have surrendered to military militia of Lugansk (video): http://lifenews.ru/news/134029

You can call it as you want, but I see a real civil war in the Ukraine - the consequences of the Maydan revolution which was heated and backed up by the USA and EU

Yes, GDP per capita, PPP. Wikipedia data is pulled from IMF, World Bank, and CIA. The numbers differ, but paint similar picture.

Which is why you use HDI (or even better the HDI adjusted for inequality) to measure the quality of life - it takes into account GDP per capita, education, life expectancy, etc.

And here you are:

dont bother arguing with cyberseo on economic issues, he lives in his Moscow bubble and thinks that whole Russia is like Moscow :-)
another easy example - look how the typical small village looks like in Switzerland, Germany, Czech, Poland and look how it looks like in Ukraine, Russia or Georgia.....

The whole picture can be seen in the official report of World Bank. Anyways, there are other factors beside the numbers. Let me show you another example. As far as you nay know, Moscow is one of the most expensive places in the World. Do you seriously think that such an city can be located in a poor country (say Botswana, Nigеria, Bangladesh, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Bulgaria, Indonesia or Colombia) ? How do you think all those "poor" can afford living there? Sometimes its good to use a simple logic.

I live in Moscow not too long, actually. So I know what I'm talking about.

Just FYI: there are no villages in Russia. They all are dead. The consequences of industrialization.

If there was no question about how they would vote, then why not allow international third party observers in? Why not, because Russia rigged the vote, as what was shown when the real numbers were released. If there was nothing to hide, then why hide?

Actually they did.

Contrary to the reports of 135 international observers from 23 countries, the Western media in chorus has suggested without a shred of evidence that the elections were rigged and that Crimea was under Russian military occupation.
The observer mission reports which include members of the European Parliament have been casually ignored by the mainstream Western media: Mateus Piskorkski, the leader of the European observers’ mission and Polish MP: “Our observers have not registered any violations of voting rules.”

Why Russia? Why not the USA or Uganda? Do you have any proof? Share with us please.

P.S. You didn't answered to my question. How many Crimeans do you know personally?
