Hardly anyone wears one here. I have wore one 2 times both were when I went for a doctor's visit. Wore it inside the doctors office then took it off after.

My wife wears one at her job, she had a medical job. But she doesn't wear it after work.

I go out everyday to the post office. Plus other errands. Most of the people wearing them are employees, most likely the employer requires it. Regular people maybe 20% wear them if that.

I have not experienced a single store requiring you to wear a mask.

We have to wear them inside of all stores as well as use hand disinfectant or gloves when entering. Gloves or disinfectant must be provided by the store. That being said no one is policing this and no one really believes in this pandemic here anymore. I don't know how the situation looks elsewhere but talking to some people I know (that have also ask their acquaintances) no one seems to know of anyone actually being sick.

my nation opened up yesterday for travel (was weird coming home from a walk seeing a plane flying overhead again) which is super important for the economy-for now. the Caribbean in general needs to stop relying so heavily on tourism as it doesn't produce local wealth. the kind that stays here. I'm hoping something good on that tip will come from this long term

but back on topic, you can't even walk into a stall shop without a mask. or you can, but it's considered a dick move if you don't live in the immediate area (as in, if you were gonna get infected you would have already). call it 4 block radius I guess

gloves are a thing though outside of hospitals? that does seem a bit overboard. outside of hospitals I always thought gloves were for debutants and circa-80's wall streeters

I'm not afraid of getting sick, if I was gonna die there'd be a long line ahead of covid

but the concern of passing it on to someone else who might get sick or worse? and contributing to the kneecapping of an economy that does not need people like me fucking with it? I think I'll just wear my mask

not sure how I'd live with that, if I got it and infected someone who got sick or worse. so I put on my mask in any store I go into and will wear it until our place is out from under this. for beach or walking the streets, nah. but I do notice peeps including myself in a not-unfriendly manner stepping out onto the street to pass while walking, if we're not wearing

have a few sets of ear tuck masks that don't hurt my head (wrap-around masks with those elastic straps do, granted I have a very large head but I'm not alone in feeling the pinch I know-those thing HURT) with cat paws painted in purple nail polish all over them. virus-inspired art. or I just needed to entertain myself one night during the virus curfew. I haven't ever had a curfew before, even as a kid. that I found amusing, I wanted to go out after 8 pm even on nights when I was working and didn't want to go out. the idea I couldn't made me want it. I'm not sure I've ever experienced that feeling before

the masks were REALLY weird to me at first, seeing others in one even more than wearing one myself. I found seeing half of everyone's faces so jarring initially. but it's really not that big a deal anymore, for anyone it seems. I think we got used to it

again, more concern about spreading it than catching it for all of us. don't share spliffs outside your block which is a HUGE culture shift. elbow bumps instead of daps, little things but ish that demonstrates peeps are taking this seriously. outside the city things are a bit looser but again, you cannot go into a private enclosed establishment without a mask. you can lower it if you want to in a local bar if you're from the area, but an outsider? mask the fuck up. it's a respect thing as much as a health thing

so I put on my mask otherwise wrapped around my wrist before entering a store and getting my temp checked and hands sprayed with overproof rum or sanitizer

this is hardly a hardship

I just want my friends to go back to regular hours/work and to visit my MIL. she's in a care home and I haven't seen her in almost 4 months. I'd put on a spacesuit to be able to visit her. so if this virus could fuck off that would be great

me neither tbh. and I think if it was spreading around here I would have got it and felt it, when it hit this country I was not in a good physical condition. if I had gotten sick even a regular flu could have offed me. actually not kidding on that. all better now but if I got it I think I'd know as I died alone in a hospital room with no one around me

this has happened to so many families all over the world. can you imagine not being able to say goodbye and be with your loved one as they passed? I can't. or perhaps don't want to as it sounds so awful

that said I do know locally of one death that can be attributed to covid that wasn't due to an infection. a pregnant woman (fuck me, she was 23) died because she was having a difficult labor and needed some surgical help but the anesthesiologists were afraid to approach her. because, ya know, she had a baby stuck inside her and her breathing was...labored

she died at 23. but they let a rich white dude in from Turks just before that they airlifted in for an emergency and he infected the top doc at the hospital that denied her care. no words sometimes...

but I feel wordy so those docs were and remain epic pussies who had tools at their disposal to help a woman in need but did nothing. I consider Ms Fearon a covid death, were it not for that she would be alive. post mortem she tested negative for the virus. she just had trouble breathing cuz...baby stuck inside her and all that

so yeah at least one person I know of has died due to this even if not infected. I do think restrictions need to be relaxed but using hand sanitizers and wearing a mask when in close quarters with peeps outside your core group? small price to pay

anyone who claims they have perfect knowledge of what's really going on with this virus thing is lying. so what to do we do then? to me I think we need to do our best to protect our friends/loved ones/communities etc. and serve them by doing our best as every nation opens up

really in the short term if it helps does wearing a mask hurt anyone? no. but we don't know if not doing so will hurt. actually we do :/

I'm in Avon, Colorado. It's built around the Beaver Creek Ski Resort. In the earlier days of Covid-19 we had a bunch of cases up here. The experts guessed it came on so fast because we have so many tourists during that time of year (December - March ski and snowboard season).

These days most wear masks at all retail locations. Employees and customers. The only exceptions are those working out outdoors. The mountain turns into mountain biking and the lake turns into walking path / yoga park this time of year. So, outdoor activities few wear mask.

Down the highway in the more casual towns where some ranchers hang out there are far less people wearing masks, but they have taken the food places and spread the tables out about 8 feet and no longer allow the rancher dudes to all sit and coffee together.

I wear a mask when I can.

I don't wear them on walks or bike rides. I don't get close enough to other people. I do not wear them in the gym, however, our gym is small and only a handful are let in for forty-five minute periods.

I have not eaten in a restaruant since the original "shelter in place" order, and I have no desire to. We have also not seen any of our friends with only two or three exceptions. If I go out shopping at all I wear a mask, even if it's just a quick trip into a gas station to buy a Pepsi.

I couldn't agree with you more. Even if there is only a small chance of preventing me or someone else from getting the virus it's well worth it.

I am but I am one of the few in my town. Yesterday I was at the store. With the exception of the employees about 90% of the people weren't wearing masks and in the last few weeks since we started opening things up and people haven't been wearing them, we have seen a spike in cases. A couple of days ago, the Governor issued a statement that starting on June 24th masks will be required to go into any building. Hopefully that will help.

We need the economy to get back on track and need to open the country up. Wearing masks gives us the best chance of doing that.

My wife is a doctor and we know what the fuck. I could care less about the idiots that are stupid, but they put my wife and other healthcare workers at risk because they have to take care of sick idiots. Believe me, if you get the virus you will whine like a little bitch and that's if you live. And if you live, you very likely will be living with some fucked up health for the rest of your life. Man, have you been to a school? Have your leaned what airborne disease is? How do you think this infection is being transmitted? A teleportation? No, it's being transmitted via drops of water by the air and the mask stops them very well. The closet analogy is a condom. Course you may breath some infection from the holes between your mask and your face, but the concentration usually won't be enough to make you sick. Just like if you will kiss a girl with HIV. She has the virus in her saliva... but not enough to infect you.

That's a usual routine here in Russia to wash your hands and face when you enter a home. Also you should take off your shoes and change your street clothes to home ones (if you are entering your own apartments). So nothing has changed for us at all...

I feel the same but have the opposite perspective you have. I think all of this is an overreaction. And I don't think it's that people are utter idiots, it's that their emotions are taking over - like with every topic - and then they rationalize their side, or point of view.

There are 1000s of harmful things in our world and 1000s of things we can do that would reduce those harmful things by 1%, yet we don't do them. Decrease driving accidents, cleaner environment, better eating (which will save our health and the health system), reducing suicide, concussion protocols, possibility of war etc... I could go on. We don't take actions that would reduce those likelihoods by 1% so why do it for Corona? How would we even start to rank what's the most harmful thing for us and then decide to take action to reduce that by 1%?

It would take too much time and too many resources and we as humans just don't do that for good and bad reasons. We live with risk and we go about our day as best we can, moving forward making things better a bit at a time. There are far more dangerous things to worry about out there than Corona.

BTW, the lockdown is said to have increased tuberculosis in the world by 5 million cases over the next few years and 1.4 million deaths. That's just one adverse affect of the lockdown. 1.4 million deaths ... now you ask me about people who are so utterly stupid ... again, it's not that they are stupid, it's that this issue is now politicized and that's one more reason why (on top of my rationale above and belief they are generally not needed) I don't wear a mask.

I know about the US and that's why I tell how we do it here. You know, when there was a plague epidemic in Western Europe, Russia was almost non affected. That's because even a peasant here had a bath day (at least one day a week to take a bath). While in Western countries people washed themselves like once per two years or so. They even invented perfume to stink less. The women here still prefer soup and shower as a best perfume (a smell of healthy and clean women's body is better in any case).
