I'm sorry. I disagree with everyone who votes for Obama...

only for the reason that they think he's the lesser of two evils. I'm sick of hearing that the candidates, as south park put it, a choice between a douche and a turd sandwhich. This election is nothing like the past 2 presidential elections. Millions of people domestically are proud of their candidate(Obama). He is not and is nothing like Kerry or Gore. Obama has given hope to millions of people.

Obama has changed the face of politics. He has kept his campaign mostly positive, but has shown that he can fight back against the smears.

Obama is quintessentially THE american story. He is what everyone hopes they can one day achieve. The man came from nothing and has, at every turn, reached expectations and exceeded them.

I can understand those that dislike him. There are plenty of reasons to dislike him as there are for other politicians. For the love of god, dislike him for an actual reason rather than a made up one like he's a socialist, a muslim, or even that he's the antichrist.

Flame away Lloyd, Daddy, Sticky, Escorpio, et al...

I support Obama, I'm not a raving lunatic fanboy, and I stand by everything I've said.

Both he and McCain are talking 99% about spending money and only 1% about cutting any spending, case in point Obama's unnecessary half-hour commercial tonight. Both are jokes. It is unfortunately between a douche and a turd, with the only difference being that McCain is an angry turd that made a horrible VP choice and Obama with an already clearly won race blew at least $5 million (lord knows how much more really given the production of the video) on a half hour of television time, a very Hillaryesque waste of money. Perfect timing, less than a week until he will be winning the election and he illustrates his penchant to needlessly blow a fuckload of money that could have...hmm, I dunno...perhaps helped the people in his video and another couple thousand or so?

If it was Obama vs. McCain 8 years ago, I would no contest vote for McCain, but clearly the old fart has lost a few brain cells since then, and now probably won't even win his own state...what a joke that'll be.

100% w/out a doubt I would have voted for Mccain in '00. I'm not entirely sure even McCain '00 would vote for McCain '08.

Doesn't really matter regarding the naysayers, if you're willing to vote for McCain and install conservative supreme court judges then you don't deserve to be in this industry and on this board anyway. The rest is fluff, a douche gets used, a turd sandwich gets eaten, a supreme court judge is for life and you are persona non grata if you make a living in this industry and let two party politics get inbetween that.

Would campaign finance laws allow Obama to just give it to people instead of use it to advance his and to a lesser extent the rest of the Democrats running for offices this time around?

This also is/was money that was privately donated to him, mostly by small donors to use for him campaigns expenses. To run ads, buy TV spots, travel around, so forth.
Buying the time slots (was more than one, and other channels also showed it, and it played EST and PST, not sure about Central or Mountain). So technically it was on my TV on several channels, at a bare minimum of 5pm PST and 8pm PST. (MSBC at 5) then (FOX,CBS, and other news channels at 8).

Personally I think the TV buy may be seem as a bit excessive. Then again he has same access to the net as we all do. I am sure he sees all of the hate, the concern with people stealing the election, you name it. Plus it looks like he uses strategy very well and understands how to go for the killing blow in a fight. He just like most of us obviously saw that he was in a dirty fight anyways. Winning is key most of the time. Buying those TV slots was akin to striking a death blow to the other side without getting dirty. Also allowed him to put names and faces to his plans and how they will work. In a format that people understand i.e. TV.

Lately I will say in some ways he reminds me of the footage I saw of my grandparents that had a lot of tapping's of events, and even TV stuff of Bobby Kennedy when he was out here in California. Yes I am aware of how that ended.

1. the race ain't over until it's won. He hasn't won yet, and the last week of the campaign is no time to sit back on one's laurels.

2. I don't know, how much does 3 or 4 million rather annoying robo-calls and another few million call center calls cost? Those are what strikes me as the most "unnecessary" (and underhanded) tactic in this campaign so far.

1) no one takes that more seriously than Obama. He's running his campaign as if he's 4-6 points behind.

2) Robo-calls are amongst the least effective forms of campaigning. They are also the cheapest. McCain lost in the primaries in '00 partially because of robo-calls and push-polling(mccain had an illegitimate black daughter). He's since hired the same people that fucked him to do the same against Obama.

The other night, whether on TDS or TCR they had a republican operative on who went to jail for some of the tactics he helped use on who explained just how down and dirty the campaigns get. It's disgusting even to the point where they (the repubs) hired off duty police officers to wear armbands saying they were there to police black guys on warrants that may or may not exist to discourage black voters from voting. It's amazing what they(republicans) are willing to do to suppress the vote. Of course that wasn't actually their role, its just an example.

Recently, as has happened in all election cycles for the past, god knows how long, republicans have sent out, posted flyers, etc; informing democrats to vote on November 5th.

I really have no idea how people like Rove or others live with themselves aside from being sociopaths who are willing to do whatever they need to in order to win.

One would think that at McCain's age, with his unique experiences and tenor in politics, that he'd be a much more principled person. Yet comparing him now from even eight years ago, he seems like sombody who's own philosophy is completely in limbo. He used to trumpet the economic philosophy of Obama just a few years ago. Now he's done a 180 on it. Many of his other decisions during the campaign suggests that he believes being a Maverick is no longer somebody who takes serious but measured risks, but is instead somebody who is a blind gambler. Nobody seems to know who McCain is anymore.

I think after last nights infomercial the only way Obama will lose is if pictures of him training at a Bin Laden camp lands on McCain's desk tomorrow.

It's interesting to see it from the outside looking in, and yes Americans will tell foreigners that they aren't allowed to....

But the world is very strongly in favour of Obama (according to sources such as www.iftheworldcouldvote.com) and yet nearly half of Americans still don't get it.

And those Americans that are still pro McBush will tell us that we don't matter or that we don't understand.... and then turn around and hate us for having non biased news agencies and multiple sources and then completely dismiss our "logic" since it's based totally on facts and not on which party we think we should vote for because we just always have.

Which makes me wonder just how many people are voting McCain just because he's republican. Not because he's the better choice. Not because he says what they want to hear. But because he's republican and that's just how those people vote, no matter what.

Uno, I like the fact that you have an opinion, you're not afraid to say it and are willing to face those who think otherwise. Good for you.

I think the rest of the world will be watching American's election next week very closely because the outcome will affect every other country.

Canadians are behind Obama as well ( even if it's worth shit.)

I try to keep the debate civil and in some cases, not all, it does bring out the best in people. Unfortunately it brings out the worst in lots more.

I'm just sickened by how republicans have just completely gone to talking points. Shit gets old. It's almost like Sarah Palin has a string in her back that someone pulls when it's time to regurgitate one of her canned fucking responses. I would consider myself an old school republican when it comes to the economy and the constitution, but a liberal when it comes to domestic issues like abortion and gay marriage. I think a LOT of republicans are very disappointed in what their party has become. I wouldn't be surprised to see quite a bit of people who called themselves republican this election, calling themselves libertarian next election season.

McSame/Failin keywords for today: "Joe The Plumber, Socialism, Spread the wealth, Avery, Ties to terrorist groups, raise taxes during an economic downturn, acorn, Osama Bin Laden, defeat in Iraq, sit down with dangerous leaders, Israel..."

I think that just about covers their entire platform. Anyone else want to kick the living shit out of this Joe the Plumber douche? Talk about riding your 15 minutes for an hour...sheesh...

I really don't think the TV was excessive. If you think about it, look at all the free infomercials Fox news has given McCain/Palin. Then last night CNN gave McCain practically a hour long show with Larry King. When was the last time you saw Obama on Larry King? It was before he decided to run. They had Michelle Obama on back in Feb. Have you seen Biden on Larry King since he was selected to be VP?

Regardless of how in love some say the media is with Obama, it surely hasn't resulted in free TV air time like you see with McCain/Palin. The simple fact that so many lies have been put out there by the GOP and McCain's campaign about Obama, IMO he really needed to have a outlet to share his views.

I mean think about it, there are still morons out there that actually think Obama is a Muslim.

Registered Republicans swing 3-4% of the time in elections. Registered Democrats swing up to 12% of the time.

Republicans vote for red no matter what. It doesn't matter what happens, they vote. Blues are flaky.. as most lefties are.

No 'flames' from me..

But, I will say this: I strongly disagree with socialism. It only breeds misery and economic stagnation.

I voted early on Tuesday and I saw something I've never seen before.. I would have to take a guess that 25% of the people in line to vote were black. Normally you would see a bunch of little old ladies and middle aged people with a few younger & minorities mix in. The simple fact is Obama is getting people to come out and vote whom likely would have never voted.

I was actually surprised at the total difference of what I saw in line compared to the last two elections. Forget all the polls because if what I saw at my election office goes on around the country, well it will be no contest.

The simple fact is all these polls only call people with normal home phones. Most younger or progressive people these days just have cell phones or IP vonage type phones. I know I haven't had a land line in 10 years. None of those people are ever called in these polls, because their names aren't in the phonebook.

From what I've seen around here at least in my country (volusia) in Florida, I don't even think it will be close. Then again my county was the only "blue" country in the state last election.

I actually don't know anyone with a home phone these days. Everyone uses their cell. I have vonage which I use for affil program signups or utilities but it rarely rings. So yea.

As for the black thing - there's only so many blacks in the country. Even if 95% of them vote it won't swing an election. Old white people run this country - and we're going to see if the young, the minorities etc can come out in each county and give them a run for their money.

When you consider Al Gore lost by something like 500 to 2k votes.. Well every voter counts these days. Kerry's election was very close as well and Florida was a key state in both elections.

Overall though, it really matters little what the populace vote is, because it's only the electoral vote that counts. All the charts I've seen with the exception of Fox News's show Obama well in the lead on that.

If you are still questioning this on the 30th of October you aren't paying attention. Of course, that is to be expected from a dumb fuck like you.

I was teetering for McCain until he went and brought on a Fundie as a VP. The stink was too much at that point.

What? How the fuck was that racist?
There's VERY FEW blacks in this country compared to whites: FACT
Blacks don't vote to their full potential: FACT
Other immigrants need to get out and vote to beat the old white people: FACT

I am COMPLETELY lost as to how what I said was racist in ANY form. Please point it out for me, because it wasn't.

The only way someone would say something like that is if they were black. Are you a negro?
