Sweet - yup he is retarded for checking his work. Especially in a world where it is way to fucking common that many infections are resistant to numerous antibiotics. The testing really confirms which one will work best and list some others as well. They can tell by looking inside about if you have one. But yeah never mind he is a retard, and you got lucky it just needed penicillin. Always so easy to second guess and judge. Wonder what you would of said a week if he gave in that day, then a week or two latter after it did not work and you find out you have a MRSA infection or just a resistant infection in your ear.

I personally do not google symptoms. I will google things I am told I have as well as medications I am told to take. I avoid many sites as well. Though I just as often pull down a book off the shelf when it comes to medicines.

They also meaning doctors have been trained to tune out the static and shit that is either bat shit crazy or highly unlikely. The same doctors not only have access to the google, they get peer reviewed magazines, websites, and well more fucking information than us unless we really search it out all of the time.

No since in debating though. Have already learned very hard, especially over the past couple years that doing so on here is fucking pointless. It used to be fun, now it is like pissing in the wind with an electric fence behind you.

The type of thing that would virtually guarantee that 50 years from now, virtually every bacterium in existence will be resistant to antibiotics?

I have to wonder... if a doctor overlooked something big, which caused permanent damage or even death in you or any of your loved ones, would you consider "Well, the patient googled his symptoms and was pretty sure it was something else" a good excuse?

He was complaining of chest pains that were almost like acid reflux but he wasn't sure, said he'd get it after eating spicy foods or something, so he choked it up to acid reflux, but also wasn't sure so he went to an oh so bright doctor, and the doctor said yeah, that's all it was...

Well after he died, a doctor who obviously knew what he was doing actually proved that those 2 to 3 times a week he'd have "acid reflux" were actually mild heart attacks that he was having FOR A FUCKING YEAR STRAIGHT.

Oh, and also when a friend of mine was going in for her last checkup before giving birth the retarded doctor broke her water and didn't even notice it, and then when she was having bad contractions for 2 days straight he said he couldn't do anything until her water broke, so she waited and waited watching it, almost lost her child.

So, how about you imbeciles actually do what you're fucking supposed to do before you call us names for actually trusting a search engine over your stupid fucking "I have a piece of paper that I paid for, so obviously I know what I'm doing!" tards.

I have a lot of health complications and I've been to just about every type of specialist you can imagine. The only way I'm able to get into the proper specialists half the time is using web resources to piece together the puzzle and connect the dots for my GP.

Yes, sometimes doctors screw up, and a few doctors are incompetent. The same goes for lawyers, programmers, electricians, pilots, engineers, accountants, plumbers, pharmacists, and virtually every other profession in the entire fucking world.

The difference between you and a doctor (or pilot, engineer, lawyer, etc.) is that the doctor has had years and years of training, as well as years of experience. And guess what - he can use Google too. But not only that, he'll have access to a number of peer-reviewed medical (UpToDate, Clinical Evidence, The Cochrane Library, etc.), which are quite a bit more reliable than anything you're likely to find on Google. You could access those too, though... if you were willing to spend a few thousand bucks a year on it.

And even then, you'd lack knowledge of medical terminology, specific symptoms to look for, experience with various manifestations of specific disorders, and the opportunity to discuss specific cases with other doctors.

But hey - why do you need a prescription, anyway? Just google how to produce the medicine google prescribed. Of course, you'll need to google any possible patents on the medicine, because you wouldn't want to get sued for patent infringement - googling patent law to defend yourself in court would be a bother, after all.

And who needs that when you could spend that time relaxing in the house you googled how to build, or maybe even taking a plane you googled how to fly to a nice tropical island for a relaxing vacation?

When you're relaxing on the beach, maybe you'll finally find the time to finally create that book you've always wanted to write: "The Age of Google: why education is now obsolete".

If it mentions on the back that you're an expert googler, I'm sure everyone will be forced to take you seriously.
