That's one way to know there's something not quite right with this.

Nobody wants to pay attention to the collateral damage done due to lock downs. You mentioned suicides, overdoses and domestic violence and can add to that; much higher levels of depression overall, deaths from cancer and cardiovascular disease increasing and will increase for months due to people or hospitals delaying treatment (it's too late at one point), economic strain on the middle class, higher economic strain on the poor resulting in high levels of stress in the house and for those kids not going to school I feel for them. On top of that the UN predicts 100k people and children will starve due to food shortages resulting from lock downs and 1.5 million extras deaths from tuberculosis due to lock down and those infected not getting treatment, so it spreads. Never mind changing the economy for years to come.

We don't bat an eye at any of that.

Yes the virus is real and yes it is worse than the flu but some perspective is badly needed here.

I think what people mean by fake pandemic is not that the virus isn't real. They mean that the response to the pandemic is disproportionate to its severity.

So it is "fake" in a sense, as in we are reacting as if we are in the midst of the 1918 Spanish Flu - a very serious pandemic - when in fact we are in a much milder version of what pandemic brings to mind and that we should be reacting to it accordingly.

Because I'm an old man I know a lot of old people. Before this bullshit about Covid the majority of them were either obese or hacking up their lungs. Every fucking flu season at least half of them were in the hospital on their death bed.

I know someone who died from COVID.... His name was Steve and he was a reporter at the local newspaper here in town (think small town). He had been there for ever and was well known and well liked.

Our daughter's best friend tested positive for COVID... She went to a party on a Friday and caught COVID, spent an hour with my daughter in the car on Sunday, and on Tuesday tested positive for COVID. Our daughter went on lockdown for a week because of it. It was rather scary.

I also look to scientists who have lots of experience with infectious diseases. They also say it's challenging. But they are critical of the response and say it's too much. Covid is challenging but they say the cure is worse than the disease. Doesn't mean they don't see covid as a threat or as something we need to manage.

She got out just over a month ago but was taken back to hospital 2 days ago because her breathing is still so bad.

It is real and it can be bad. But you need to look at stats overall and not just one or two cases to say whether it is serious or not.

Two friends of mine have died from it. One was overweight and had diabetes. The other was 74 year old male. Died on a ventilator after 48 days.

Several people I know who are between 20 and 35 got it and all recovered. Two had wives who got it as well, but were asymptomatic.
