I disagree a bit but anyways - how about my question...

honest question for DH:

how much would it affect your bottom line over the last year to NOT accepted business with installs?

5% ?
10% ?
20% ?

i am actually seriously tossing around the idea of doing that, starting my own program. I have somethign in the works if it looks good and i have success with it on my own traffic i may open it up to invitation only. But i can tell you rule #1 i will not allow spyware. i will contact all of the spyware companies up front and advise them not to sell my keywords or anything related to stealing my affiliates traffic.

i caved and talked to him, i got to say it was at least civil. and no i am posting icq logs but if he wants to he is more then welcome, like i said i stand by what i say no matter if it is private public online, offline etc..

i think it is safe to assume he wont be calling me a basement tgp submitter anywmore...

now can we get this thread back on track.

Oh DH, you did your friends a favor tonight. You consumed all of the "spyware" time tonight. I will be focusing on companies one by one tomorrow.

I am not going to stop until people stop supporting installers like zango.

I know "program owners' may have laughed at the 1 or 2 guys who sent 3 sales a day, who have bitched to them about spyware, But when i am done i hope to have a couple hundred pissed off affiliates who make a couple sales a day ranting and raving to their sponsors about it. (plus some big ones too ;))

Missie, maybe you should look a little further into what you are promoting....

XCleaner www xkee com/x-cleaner-download/
iSpyNow www xkee com/utility/ispynow/
SpyBuddy www xkee com/spybuddy-download/

While I wont argue that Zango is adware, iSpyNow and SpyBuddy are SPYWARE. In addition, with a little googling, you'll see that the majority of links to xclean and xblock affiliates are from Search Spammers and Comment spams. Add all of the XBlock versus Aluria mudslinging, and thats quite a mess going on there...

Also, Just because I feel like and jerk tonight, might I mention the XBlock Affiliate TOS ( www xblock com/affiliateterms.php )

Some great points here...
XBlock affiliates cannot
*Promote sexually explicit, pornographic or obscene content (whether in text or graphics)
*Promote speech or images that are offensive, profane, hateful, threatening, harmful, defamatory, libelous, harassing or discriminatory

Is harrasing posters on an Adult forum a violation of Xblocks TOS?

Yes you can promote this on a porn site. I can't believe that is still there. I will have to write them again. Several months ago I wrote them about this and this is what they replied:

"Note that we are not opposed to adult websites. In fact, we think protecting the privacy issues of users in this market would be a good target for our top-notch anti-spyware software. "

Actually the man behind XBlock is Wayne Porter, he used to be the CEO of the company before FaceTime bought it last year or two years ago. Get an idea of what Wayne is all about at http://www.revenews.com . They also own http://www.spywareguide.com .

I learned an awful lot about detecting and removing spyware from Wayne and his tech team. I "met" him about 3 years ago and they were by far the best people to help their customers. Hell, I wasn't even a customer back then and they still helped me!!

You are free to have your own opinion and do what you want, I will surf the net spyware free.

Missie

Dh,
I don't think you can put everything under the 'it is legal, so I don't have a problem with it' umbrella. Sometimes the laws hasn't adjusted to the new situations yet.

Molesting a horse is legal in Holland, because the laws haven't been adjusted yet.....so if you could make money with it, would you do it? and what if it was big money?
You can always make money on something, and if there is enough money to be made, why focus then on something which is obviously so bad for our (and any other) industry. Because others are doing it otherwise? a lame excuse if you ask me.

Why don't you just say: Guys, you're right. I will stop with any form of install, I will focus on selling my traffic to others instead of their questionable stuff and probably make the same amount of money with most likely a bit more work..but fuck it! I make enough already.

But well, for some reason I don't see that happening, I would love to, but well.......one can dream right?!

I still love you Mark and I have a lot of respect for you what you have accomplished in just a few years, I just don't agree with you on this one as you know ;) And this post doesn't only apply to you, but also to many others.
Pierre

i think DH has developed a bit of a 'god complex' or something over the years. success has gone to his head possibly. he sure does come off with a "i'm rich, you're not so your opinion means nothing" attitude in this thread.

If you are going to get into a market, score a quick hit and then quit, you can afford to think in terms of anything legal being fair game. Otherwise many such things would come under the category of "sh*tting on your own doorstep".

That comment isn't intended as an appeal to the people who are damaging the industry. They know exactly what they are doing and don't care. But I fail to understand why those who are in business for the long-term tolerate, let alone support such individuals. It is your doorstep these people are crapping on, your future earnings which are paying for their get-rich-quick schemes, and you they are laughing at for helping them steal your money.

Because that is exactly what they are doing. None of these schemes, no matter which side of the law they fall, are generating business. Directly or indirectly, all they are doing is snatching business from those who operate in ways which won't ultimately create a backlash. No industry can afford to turn a blind eye to such tactics, least of all one which faces so many opponents who will use anything to restrict our activities.

Alright, instead of "imagine if" and they do "it" and "all files are spyware" and blah blah blah... how about we see a file?

Anyone? Can someone show me a file? Just one file, from the p2pads network that has spyware in it. Can someone send it to me? I would love to test it on my machine... but I need the file first. Also, I'll need to know how you verified that it came from p2pads as well.

Once I have this file, and I can confirm that it is spyware (even if it's just shady and still legal), I myself will jump on the anti-DH bandwagon and shout the loudest. Until this is done however, I will have to accept this entire thread as nothing more than assumptions and personal attacks for no other reason than "imagine if."

Thank you.

You are trying to come up with reasons not to oppose something which can only be damaging to everyone except the person profiting directly from it. That's nonsense from a business point of view and makes your defense personality motivated, not as you claim, the attacks on this kind of practise.

Exactly!

I'm not missing the point. He accused P2Pads of something... without proof. That's a bannable offense on GFY.
All I am offering is a chance for him or anyone to prove those statements.

You guys are the ones putting up the smokescreen of speaking in generalities... how you feel about installs that steal ref codes. That's all well and good. But P2Pads is the only company name in the title. So again, please provide a file to back up this accusation. If I install it and it replaces my ref codes... I will concede that you are all correct.

This is the title of the thread:

"P2PADS will sell traffic for installs. "

Please show me where it says that p2pads installs something on its own site.

With this type of issue, the generalities are what matters: p2pads is just one operator and in the long run of no real significance. Therefore the specifics of what he is doing are of even less significance.

Some people pop up on threads like this, who appear to think everything is fine so long as the person doing something is "cool". They and the majority who avoid such threads are apparently unwilling to confront things which will damage them long-term, even though many plan to be around long enough to be affected. That is just ludicrous.

There are currently no customers that are directing traffic through P2P Ads directly to a software program.

PREDICTION>>>>>>> Ok, here is how this thing will play out. A couple years from know all the companies everyone is complaining about will STOP doing the things that are making you all so upset. YOU WILL CLAIM VICTORY, shouting from the rooftops. It was your voice that made the change. Truth is that it was the market that changed and you had nothing to do with it. Here is what I can tell you about GTS and other large successful companies. While you complain, they are working on the next generation of products and services. Things nobody is complaining about because they are things nobody has see yet. Then you will complain about those. Its a cycle. There are only a small % of people who inovate. They get rich without breaking laws. They think ahead and use thier time wisley by thinking outside the box. And of course thier will always be the large % who dont. MARK< MAGNUS,,,,,fuck the haters. You'll be building and growing long after they are gone.

key word = currently
key word = customers

what % in the past?
what % was the maximum?
do you guys push installs on 'left over' traffic so that would not qualify as 'customer'?

if the % is really sooooooo loooooowwwww

then why not just make a policy against it - anounce it and look like heros listening to your customer base?

be realistic about it - the overwelming majority of people in the business are against it

Looks like not everybody knows how to use the simple tools we have available today. You still have a red X in your signature. I hope future innovations are not that complicated.

I doubt this thread would have ever been started if DrinkingHard hadn't told will76 to mind his own business in a thread about affiliate codes(commissions) blatantly being stolen.
Why would DrinkingHard support that? If anything he gave a negative impression about the type of installs he is doing.
He says he is not promoting zango in this thread, but his buddies are, or at the very least were, and doing a 'fair amount of installs' if I remember the thread right.

P.S. -- Do you really think you supporting him gives any credibility, given the kind of software you 'sell'?

That is about the only true thing you wrote.

It is much easier and more profitable to squeeze a restaurant owner for protection money than to run a restaurant. Does that make the guy running a protection racket smart and therefore the restaurant owners should approve of him, regretting their own stupidity in working harder for less money.

According to your argument that is exactly how they should feel. You may deny that and say we are not discussing things which are illegal, but the point is exactly the same. An industry consists of businesses which exist to create and serve a customer base. It attracts people who provide products and services to help the industry function (better). And unfortunately it also attracts predators: those who provide nothing whatever except a way for themselves to make money from other peoples' labor, passing on a few crumbs to those who help them. The practical effect is exactly the same, whether their activities are legal or not.
