LOL the dudes bitter because he's a demanding customer who pays $15/mo, get fucked dude, you're worth losing for them if they can spend the hours they do on you, with a customer spending few hundred dollars a month with.
And support? Haha, I talk to Chris quite a bit, he always responds within minutes, of me ICQing him, no more than 1 hour... Jordan and I talk about 6-7 times a day, daily... None of them are hard to get ahold of. Oh yeah, I am not even a customer of theirs... YET. |

Yeah, I'm unstable, because I expect full attention when my RENTED dedicated server hardware fails.. After 24 hours of waiting for a whats wrong with server, they still havnt finished, "cloning" it... whatever the fuck that process is... been in the business 25 years, never seen a routine like this.. anyhow
Yeah, after 24 hours, I had to pester them every 8 hours to get a response of whats going on only to hear.. Its not done cloning.. (well gee, its not done cloning.. the initial day in the first 30 minutes it was at 10% at the 3 houir mark it was 45%, now 2.1 days later its at the 50% mark... lol.... was just a lie.. because they actually told me on day 1 is was just about done and had no % showing means its (finishing) and to stand by, only never to reply for the next 15 hours until I had to start pestering them again. BTW, I was paying $134 DUAL INTEL Xeon 2.8Ghz 2GB DDR ECC 120GB PATA 5 Usable 100 Mbps 2000GB $129 +5$ hidden fee to protect from something stupid.. scam fin is what I call it. Typical of a crock company. Enjoy them like i said, I really do recoommends them.. Everyone loves their deal, until they need the actual service...You will get what you deserve, if you read the fucking post you will see I got yelled and lashed out at after I cancelled my account with what the owner perceived as loosing a customer and had to lash out.. LOL! A real true professional.. One who is not even using his real name... And I am the unstable one.. hahahha

Now for what is probably the real truth, you see, I ran many ISP's over the past decade...
I know how cheap hosts run and how they do their support.... It's truly sad You see, they didnt do shit... they were not going to do shit, they immediately figured and troubleshooted it was a failed hard drive without even wasting a bit of energy even to login and look at the server They basically were just going to slap a new server in and let me configure it...case closed.. then they dont have to do any work.... They only figured I had no backup because they kept asking me if I had wanted them to do a fresh install with another server and reconfigure everything.. I didnt request this for my known reasons.. One, i wanted to see how they reacted to this situation... 2ndly I was cancelling regardless because I just hated their service the past 2 years... It was cheap, slow, every now and then I always heard from my employee's the server is down... more than any other place we host.. So I let them continue "cloning" lol.... Enjoy them! Top Notch Company!!!

I have to admit Chris made a mistake by reacting like that, but the thread starter is a raging lunatic. Unless PR was well known for HD failures I'd agree that they'd be shit but this is the FIRST time I see real PR drama. I think they're doing very well atm.

I just went over the ticket and this is what I found: 1. The server is in service since March 2008 . 2. You are an UNMANAGED client. 3. You should always have backups of your content. The fact that you are an unmanaged client alone should tell you that our guys went the long distance to get you back online, they cloned the failing hard drive so your data loss will be minimal if any and indeed you are back online. As an unmanaged customer what they should have done is to tell you that a reinstall is needed and plug your bad drive as a secondary and let you copy whatever you could of it, but let?s punish them for thinking about a customer. Hard Drives DO FAIL! It is a fact I don?t see where the confusion is. What I fail to understand why you lashed out on the techs that tried to help you by calling them names and drunks or insult them?? From you: ?Received on Feb/13/2009 9:13:36PM i dont know what you mean by 12 hours, my math and your countries math must be quite different, but can I get an update on this issue?? ?Received on Feb/13/2009 9:41:41PM oh its friday, i guess getting drunk is more important how about i chop 3-7 days off your paycheck, since thats what you are doing to me? So let me get this straight – you give your customer piece of shit hardware that fails upon few months of use. It causes lots of downtime and needless stress to your customer, who instead of growing his business, must put everything else behind and deal with this crap. He gets responses from techs that take forever while his sites are down and when you eventually bother to respond, you attack the customer. Congrats to your company. I had 3 servers here, and the dual xeon which is this one that costs 2x as much performs worse than the $79 servers, The pentium 3.2's smoke the dual xeon's prolly cuz the hardware / mobo is so cheap .. seriously... So if you are looking, take the cheaper servers!

I don't see what the huge commotion is about here.
You had that server for 12 months, and the hard drive died. We were cloning it for you with our disk duplicator and yes, that takes a long time. You apparently couldn't stand to wait for that to finish up and decided to lash out and abuse us. I replied with a simple, TRUE STATEMENT. Hard drives will die. Every drive WILL die. Anything mechanical in a server, at some point, WILL die. New drives can die right away even! Sorry bro, but we spent a lot of time on this for you - hard drive failures are a fact of life -- we even invested in a $1,000 disk duplicator for our clients who have no backups and desperately need to try cloning their drive for their data. This works about 80% of the time on a dead drive, who know's if it would've with yours as you never even let it finish.

If you had backups, why would you opt for the cloning process?
We could've gotten you back online in 10 minutes with a new drive for you to restore your data or you could've canceled the cloning process after a few hours in. So, as your last post recapped. You are pissed off -- just because. I also can emphasize with you, a drive dieing can be a tough thing. So no hard feelings. We worked on cloning your drive diligently, all your updates to the ticket were responded too very quickly. It just seems that because the cloning process takes a long time, you assumed we weren't doing anything to help you -- even though we told you the percentage it was along, and explained that the drive was in bad condition and the disk cloner was doing its thing. I appreciate your business for these past 12 months Mike, and sad to see you go in this manner.

A hardware issue should NOT fall under "unmanaged", as it's not a client fault if their hardware is broken. On the other hand, unmanaged is what it is. You do your OWN backups, management, etc.
Sorry mike-al. If you have all those years of experience, you should know about backups. If you did a backup, you could have had a new HD installed with your data reinstalled in under 30min. |

TO THIS MOMENT, i do not believe the hard drive is even dead.. It was just spewing out messages in /var/log/messages about a controller error and acting up a bit.. Then i was told OMG we need to clone the drive.. within minutes of this message.. Thats just class GRADE FUCKING A service OMG HARD DRIVE IS DEAD BECAUSE ITS SPEWING OUT CONTROLLER ERRORS. thats network geniousses over there So this dont even have to do with a failed hard drive... we dont even know what the fucking issue is at this point, nor will we ever It's another BRO SYSTEM cover up job for all i know the fucking pata cable fucking joggled loose lol
